Now a veteran of the rap/rock game, Kid Rock's HISTORY... includes tunes from his out of print albums THE POLYFUZE METHOD (1993) and EARLY MORNIN' STONED PIMP (1996), plus old demos and two new tracks. (The early material has been re-recorded because the master tapes are missing.) Either way, the songs here are strong enough to hold up on their own, while showing the roots of a talented artist.
On "American Bad Ass," Kid proudly proclaims his influences (AC/DC, Limp Bizkit, Korn, The Stones, Grandmaster Flash and David Allan Coe, among others). Over a Metallica "Sad But True" sample, Kid also proclaims his seven-times-platinum status (after 1998's DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE). A straight rap tune, "I Wanna Go Back" has Rock reminiscing and wishing he could change some of his early mistakes, while "Born 2 Be a Hick" is a 50's style rocker, where he proudly displays his trailer park roots. HISTORY... may not be as strong an album as DEVIL..., but his hip hop skills, a formidable band, and great hooks still make it a mandatory listen for fans of this genre.
"American Bad Ass" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.

History Of Rock Music Review Average Rating: (2.8 out of 5 stars) Take A Trip Through Time This album is basically a collection of old joints from his earlier releases Polyfuze method and Early Mornin Stoned Pimp Submitted by hulseythegreat (moreton) Was This Review Helpful? Good Sh*t!!!! Quality album. Kid takes us back to the start with some classic Beastie-Boys inspired tunes from yester-year. Tunes such as 'Early Morning Stoned Pimp' show Kid Rocks influences making an impact, while 'Abortion' and 'My Odipus Complex' show his mellower side. A damn good piece of music making!!! History Of Rock CD music
$10.39 THE MARSHALL MATHERS LP won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "The Real Slim Shady" won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. THE MARSHALL MATHERS LP was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Album Of The Year.
A Caucasian rapper from Detroit, a Dr. Dre disciple with bright blonde hair--at first glance, Eminem seemed the unlikeliest of hip-hop stars. However, his debut, THE SLIM SHADY LP, contained clever rhymes and even the occasional innovation. His sophomore effort, THE MARSHALL MATHERS LP, proved that Eminem was no fluke, but instead a legitimate rap visionary.
While his horror/shock rap can be unsettling, it's more often hilarious, as he and his Slim Shady character skewer anyone and everyone, notably the MTV-based world that surrounded him after the success of his first record. Few can come up with rhymes as consistently clever as this Motor City madman, and lines that will be repeated as long as this CD is spun. The most startling moment has to be "Stan," featuring ...
