At the time of its 1985 release, Stevie Nicks's ROCK A LITTLE was greeted with some critical puzzlement, and it was less commercially successful than her previous solo records, scoring only one hit single, the Top 5 "Talk to Me." In retrospect, although the distinctively mid-'80s production dates the album somewhat, this is one of Nicks's most personally revealing and heartfelt sets of songs since the musical diary entries of Fleetwood Mac's RUMOURS. Nicks's personal life at this point was getting nearly as much press as her music--her battles with drugs were becoming public knowledge--and it's hard to separate the two in songs as seemingly revealing as "I Can't Wait" and "The Nightmare." The closing piano ballad, "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You," which Nicks sings in her lived-in voice, is one of her finest performances.

Stevie Nicks Rock A Little Songs Rock A Little Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) She Can Rock-A-Little... ...But I like it better when she Rocks A Lot. Not as good as BELLA DONNA or WILD HEART, but Stevie offers up a pure 80s sound that takes me back to 1985. "Talk To Me" is superb, "Sister Honey" a dance treat and "No Spoken Word" is vintage Stevie. "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" is the cherry on top. Rock a little Fantastic, excellent, brilliant, what more can I say Submitted by a reviewer (England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Rock a little is very under rated If this album had more Waddy Wachtel guitar, and less synthesizers. It could have been a top ten album. all of the song have great hooks, and harmony and are very listenable. My favorites songs are "No Spoken Word, If I Were You, Some Become Strangers, The Nightmare, I Can't Wait, and of course "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" The rest are very good songs. Rock A Little album
$9.35 Following up strong on the weak sales and confused reviews of Fleetwood Mac's misunderstood experimental extravaganza, TUSK, was Stevie Nicks's first solo album, BELLA DONNA. The 1981 record featured two smash singles, "Edge of Seventeen" and the Tom Petty duet "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," that reaffirmed that the Arizona native was one of the biggest female stars of the era. The surprising ...

Rock A Little songs
$11.65 This collection has the same sequence and tracks as EMI's earlier 2002 release Sunshine Superman: The Best of Donovan, although it sports a title inversion and different cover art. It remains a nice introduction to Donovan's peak years in the mid- to late '60s, including both his Baroque flower power material for Epic Records like "Sunshine Superman" (presented here in an extended version), the fairy tale funky "Hurdy Gurdy Man," and the sublime, Blakean "Sand and Foam," as well as his earlier and more folky recordings for Pye Records (they were released in the U.S. by Hickory Records) like "Catch the Wind," "Colours," the stylistically prescient "Sunny Goodge Street," and the beautiful "Turquoise" (which is as gorgeous as it is ridiculous). The sides included here are among the best examples of Donovan's unique Woody Guthrie meets Timothy Leary style, and having both the Pye and Epic material side by side is a definite plus, making this set (whatever its title) ...
