Best Of Freestyle album
$10.15 In the 1980s and early '90s, TKA was the top male group in the genre termed "freestyle" and "Latin hip-hop." The latter is a definite misnomer, for this type of music isn't hip-hop per se, but rather dance music with hip-hop and Latin elements. Boasting such club smashes as "One Way Love," "Tears May Fall," "Scars of Love" and "Come Get My Love," this is the best TKA CD to own. While the New Yorkers' singing was never great, many of these high-tech ...
| | Nelson After The Rain CD (1990)
Best Of Freestyle CD music
$5.19 Led by brothers Matthew & Gunnar Nelson, Nelson brought Rick Nelson's sons a lot of exposure in the early 1990s. Like that celebrated '50s icon, Matthew and Gunnar went for a polished, boy-next-door image -- wholesome sex symbols, if you will -- but their music didn't ...

| | Earth, Wind, And Fire Open Our Eyes CD (1974) Bonus Tracks; Japan
Best Of Freestyle album
$26.39 Finally, after almost half a decade of serious dues-paying, Earth, Wind & Fire took off commercially with its fifth album, Open Our Eyes. EWF had been delivering great albums since 1971, but it wasn't until 1974 that the public proved genuinely receptive to Maurice White's mystical and unorthodox take on soul and funk. No longer would EWF enjoy only a small cult following. Thanks to treasures like "Kalimba Song," the gritty funk smoker "Mighty Mighty," and the unforgettable "Devotion," Open Our Eyes became EWF's first gold album and went to the top of the R&B charts. It's also interesting to note that with this album, ...

| | Supremes Live In Japan CD (2004)
Best Of Freestyle songs
$15.65 After Florence Ballard, Diana Ross and then Cindy Birdsong left the Supremes, the sole original member of the group was Mary Wilson. In Japan (1973) features Ross' replacement Jean Terrell -- sister of boxer Ernie Terrell -- alongside Wilson and the most recent addition Lynda Laurence, who took over when Birdsong flew the coop the previous year. The 'new' Supremes lineup didn't last very long as Terrell and Laurence split -- replaced by Scherrie Payne and the return of Birdsong several months later. Although unable to unleash the same torrent of hits as the earlier incarnations had done, the Supremes ably re-create some of the sweetest sounds to have emanated from within the Motown family. Their stage show remained polished, including not only soul classics, but familiar popular standards as well. While on tour supporting The Supremes Arranged and Produced by Jimmy Webb (1972), there are no representatives from that platter. The ladies do offer up a "New Hit Medley" with "Automatically Sunshine," "Floy Joy," "Nathan Jones" and "Up the Ladder to the Roof"." Of course there ...
| | James Brown Number 1'S CD (2007) Special Edition
Best Of Freestyle album
$10.39 Released shortly after James Brown's death in late 2006, NUMBER ONES is a concise 19-track anthology of the Godfather of Soul's biggest hits. Rather than a strict chronological ordering, NUMBER ONES starts with the canonical moment of Brown's career, 1965's epochal "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag." Considered by many to be the birth of funk, "Papa" was quickly followed up the charts by the even bigger pop hit "I Got You (I Feel Good)." And after that one-two punch, this collection builds into an exciting non-stop dance party that stretches backward ...
