Less than a year after a tragic plane crash took the lives of both singer/guitarist Jim Croce and his touring guitarist Maury Muehleisen on September 20, 1973, the first of many 'best of' collections surfaced, PHOTOGRAPHS & MEMORIES. Since it was originally released, it has become undoubtedly Croce's most popular and best-known release, as it contains nearly all of his very best compositions of his short career. Few artists in folk and rock history have been able to weave storytelling lyrics and fluid guitar lines as masterfully as Croce and Muehleisen did, as proven by just about any of the fourteen tracks included here. You'll find such folk rock classics as "You Don't Mess Around With Jim," "Photographs and Memories," "Time In A Bottle," "Operator (That's Not The Way It Feels)," "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," as well as such fan faves as "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song," "Rapid Roy," and "One Less Set Of Footsteps." While a slight criticism is the mysterious absence of one of Croce's finest songs, "Walkin' Back To Georgia," for a concise overview of Croce's finest selections, PHOTOGRAPHS & MEMORIES is highly recommended.

This is an awesome CD. I listen to it all the time and tell everybody about it. too bad he's dead. A must buy. every song is fantastic and can be listened to over and over. a must buy.

After his untimely plane crash death. This is a fine retrospective tribute album CD for the late Jim Croce. With highlights of a full-range of song collections from the seventies like the ballads of "Bad Bad Leroy Brown", "Time In A Bottle", "Operator", "I Got A Name" and "Don't Mess Around With Jim". Photographs & Memories his greatest hits is a complete history of it's life and times with this singer & songwriters career. And I think this is a time capulse for any music fan to remember Croce by as a rock legend!

This Too Will Pass, the third album from Hrishikesh Hirway's the One AM Radio, is yet another hushed collection of dark and dreamy lo-fi indie. However, this time around it's much more Elliott Smith than Postal Service in nature, the emphasis placed on rock's live instrumentation over the electronic undercurrents that had so often swirled about the background in the past. Though Hirway (acting as his own producer) has plenty of collaborating musicians on hand to reinforce his individual underpinning with subtle touches of string or brass-lined breaks, the songs are still kept quite sparse and clean.
