(6 Customer Reviews)
Seven Mary Three was a college band that had the good fortune to get "Cumbersome," a track from their self-produced CD CHURN, played on Orlando, Florida's WJRR, the same radio station that "broke" Collective Soul, among others. AMERICAN STANDARD is a re-recording of the entire CHURN collection with two additional tracks, and it proves that Seven Mary Three is a band to watch.
Although they are often compared to the mighty Pearl Jam, the differences between the two are considerable. Seven Mary Three takes a rootsier approach to their music. The eleven tracks on AMERICAN STANDARD are evenly divided between straight "story songs" and those with image-laden poetry. Such musings are consistently supported by a musical bed of rhythmically flailing guitars and over-the-top drumming. Jason Ross' rage-and-pain-filled vocals careen between growling and howling.

Q (7/96, p.124) - 3 Stars - Good - "...Jason Ross howls as if infused with the collective spirit of J. Mascis and Eddie Vedder....Jason Pollock is the star, tucking in some spindly but loud and always melodious guitar to provide Seven Mary Three's unique selling point..." Seven Mary Three American Standard Songs American Standard Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews An American Standard This is one of the most underrated albums of all time. Seven Mary Three who still keeps pumpning cds out to this day will alays have all their albums measured up against this one. The reason? Because this one rocks everyone and rocks hard. You can put it on and not keep skipping to good tracks because they are all awesome. Some lesser known highlights include the following songs: Lame, Margaret, and Devilboy. Buy it, you won't regret it. Submitted by Ryan (pville, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.

One of the 90's best albums Every song on this album rocks. I got it on cassette when it first came out and it didn't come out of the car stereo tape deck for almost a year. Submitted by Adam (Wichita, KS, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
amazing this is an album that the first time you listen to it you wonder what possesed you to buy it, you file it in the cd case to pull out years later to pop in randomly not remembering a single song and wonder how you managed to waste so many years of your life by not listening and loving this album. with the varying tempo's but firey approach to the music a must own... and one that you must listen to until the cd has worn to nothing, only to go buy it again and do again. American Standard album
$5.99 Principally recorded at Media Sound, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Legs McNeil and Arturo Vega.
Digitally remastered by Dan Hersch and Bill Inglot (Digiprep).
The third of the Ramones' original quartet of albums, 1977's ROCKET TO RUSSIA is actually a big improvement over the slightly disappointing LEAVE HOME, released earlier in 1977. While not as solidly perfect as RAMONES, ROCKET TO RUSSIA contains very little fat and boasts possibly the finest songs in the band's entire repertoire, "Rockaway Beach" and the immortal "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker." "We're a Happy Family" and "Teenage Lobotomy" are only slightly lesser tracks, and the covers of the Trashmen's gloriously silly "Surfin' Bird" and Bobby Freeman's "Do You Wanna Dance" are conceptually perfect, linking the Ramones neatly ...

American Standard songs
$8.55 With their second album Rock Crown, Seven Mary Three became ambitious, deciding that they wanted to tap into the American angst and disillusionment that fueled the best work of Bruce Springsteen. Musically, the group still comes off as a horrid cross between Pearl Jam and Grand Funk Railroad ...

$9.09 Orgy's first album was industrial-inflected synth rock of the Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson variety--a non-stop assault of pounding drums, jackhammer guitars, and buzzing synths, all heavily processed. This sophomore effort is ...

American Standard songs
$10.59 This is the seventh album from Howe Gelb's Arizona-based band. As with its predecessors, it revels in a glorious mix of edgy relentlessness ("Can't Find Love") and spirited and heartfelt abandon ("Angels at Night"). Gelb celebrates the moment at every turn, allowing moments of studio chatter, false starts, and breakdowns to become a viable part of the completed picture. Guests include Steve Wynn, ...
| | RockFour Nationwide CD (2004)
American Standard album
$13.85 Nationwide isn't too different from previous Rockfour releases, and it's still highly reminiscent of much late-'60s pop-psychedelia, usually of the British sort. That's okay -- when you do retro-indebted sounds as well as Rockfour does, the many spottable influences aren't ...
