Coast Is Clear album for sale Product Description
Coast Is Clear album for sale by Curve was released Nov 21, 1991 on the Charisma label. As with Blindfold, Frozen starts with a killer, vicious track -- "Coast is Clear," a massive brawler of a cut with a catchy flute-synth hook that further cemented the band's increasing reputation for at once loud and perversely attractive dance-tinged rock. Halliday's singing continues to maintain its blend for cutting putdowns and just-soothing enough crooning, while Garcia seems dedicated to figuring out how to make his speakers go beyond 11. More than Blindfold, a little more overt variety creeps into the EP, which was also the band's first full official release in the US. "The Colour Hurts" has a wonderfully ominous slow crawl to it, heightened by Garcia's sheet-metal guitar overdubs and drones surrounding Halliday's wounded lyric. The title track itself has a fine mid-paced burn, with a slightly brighter sound in comparison to earlier efforts, while the concluding "Zoo," with wordless backing vocal chants from Garcia, is another fine blend of sass, smarts and snarl, with a good arrangement to boot. ~ Ned Raggett.
