With steel guitars, fiddles and lots of acoustic guitars, this low-key folk-rock album harks back to Young's great AFTER THE GOLD RUSH-HARVEST period, and if it doesn't measure up that's only because of the ridiculously high standards the earlier albums set. Taken by itself, COMES A TIME is a fine collection, anchored by the timeless wonderment of the title song; a cover of Ian & Sylvia's "Four Strong Winds," and the nearly indescribable "Look Out For My Love," which is either a love song, a threat or both.
COMES A TIME also features "Lotta Love," which was released simultaneously by Nicolette Larson and was a major hit for her. Larson doesn't sing on Young's version, but her background vocals distinguish much of the rest of COMES A TIME. Crazy Horse puts in an unusually low-key--but typically warm and ragged--appearance on two songs, "Look Out For My Love" and "Lotta Love."

Neil Young Comes A Time Songs Comes A Time Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) PRECIOSO. Este uno de los discos mas bonitos de este genial artista, la melancolia que desprende es una de la grandes virtudes de este obra. Una melancolia nunca empalagosa, sino estremecedora. Un disco que me acompañara siempre. Submitted by A.J.T.D (Gran Canaria) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Neil's Tender Peak Many seem only to recognize Neil Young for his grungy rocking and bluesy melancholy as a lost young man or a startled poet amongst dopers, but Comes a Time shows Neil as a musician setting an example that we badly need. Kicks off with the tender Goin Back and goes right through the easy going and very personal maturity of Comes a Time, Peace of Mind and Already One, and culminates in the gloriously understated Ian Tyson cover Four Strong Winds, which assures us that, though Neil has grown up, he's still the wandering soul that we all love.
Songs like Field of Opportunity and Look out for My Love ease the listener into a safe, mature and confident place, and Lotta Love's vocal melodies add to the stream of licks that makes this album stick in your head for weeks on end. Comes A Time album
$8.59 Let's get a popular misconception out of the way. The rap about this being one of Young's darkest, most harrowing albums is utter nonsense, perpetuated by critics who spend more time reading each other than listening to the music. TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT is dedicated to Young's guitarist Danny Whitten and roadie Bruce Berry, who died shortly before this recording was made, and the title cut details that very subject, but the darker moments here are leavened by a generous share of self-parodic humor and general Neil Young loopiness.
Sad, tender ballads like "Borrowed Tune," (itself not without humor) rub shoulders with hearty rockers like "Come On Baby Let's Go Downtown." Several tunes find Young and Crazy Horse exploring hard-edged country-rock with their collective ...
| | Neil Young Zuma CD (1975)
Comes A Time CD music
$5.99 Easily the moodiest album in a career not lacking in that quality, ZUMA is a swirling, hypnotic current that drags you into river of self-doubt, bitterness and fear. This is the sound of the '60 gone sour. All the peace-and-love vibes Young dabbled in with Buffalo Springfield and CSNY crash to the ground, and the strange, beautiful sound they make is ZUMA.
It's only through the good offices of Crazy Horse that Young is able to keep the somber, droning quality of these tunes going for an entire album without a moment of boredom. ...

Comes A Time songs
$5.99 All tracks have been digitally remastered using HDCD technology.
Released right after the career albums TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT and ZUMA and right before the big-selling COMES A TIME and RUST NEVER SLEEPS, this country-rocky 1977 album is often forgotten. But it introduced the sensational "Like A Hurricane," which has remained a staple of Young's concerts, and such quirky favorites as "Homegrown," an ode to marijuana, and "Old Country Waltz," which is exactly what it says it is. As Neil Young's legendary 1970s albums go, it might be a bit of a tossed-off affair, but most country-rockers can only dream of making one album this good.
2003 remastered reissue of 1977 album. This roots 'n' rock album features guests, Emmylou Harris & Linda Ronstadt, & the fan favorite 'Like A Hurricane'. The album initially peaked at #21 & achieved gold status. Nine tracks. Reprise.
Personnel: Neil Young (vocals, guitar, acoustic ...
| | Neil Young On The Beach CD (1974) Remastered
Comes A Time album
$9.09 After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain."
The set also features a trio of scathing songs--"Revolution Blues," "Vampire Blues," and "Ambulance Blues"--that address issues important to Young, both social and personal. It is good to hear Young back with such bite and vitriol, especially after the broken desperation of TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT. But while ON THE BEACH is edgy and deeply felt, it also manages to sound liberating and ...

| | Wilkinson Tri-Cycle CD (1969)
Comes A Time CD music
$14.79 Wilkinson Tri-Cycle's only album is similar to post-psychedelic heavy rock recordings by East Coast groups like Sir Lord Baltimore and Yesterday's Children in that they combine bluesy heavy rock with psychedelic flourishes, but the effect is largely unremarkable. The album is nonetheless treasured by European collectors, who reportedly command a high price for the LP. Highlights include their cover of Sleepy John Estes' "Leaving Trunk," popularized at the time by Taj Mahal, and the Beatlesque ballads "Poursha Poe" and the elegant "Yellow Wall." It was actually released on a little-known R&B subsidiary of CBS, Date Records. None of the band went on to any major success after the demise of the group. Perhaps the most interesting item of note is that this was one of many albums produced by writers/producers Warren Schatz and Stephen Schlaks at Associated Recording Studios in New York City. The Brooklyn-born Schatz had originally recorded hits of his own as Ritchie Dean for the Tower label, then went on to form several short-lived groups before focusing on producing. Together, he and Schlaks (who co-wrote the Turtles' "Your Maw Said You Cried") partnered up to produce numerous post-psychedelic/heavy rock acts like Yesterday's Children and Banchee. Schatz continued to work as a producer and had his biggest success in the mid-'70s disco era as a staff producer at RCA, where he produced hits for Evelyn "Champagne" King ...
