Black Sabbath: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals); Tony Iommi (guitar); Geezer Butler (bass); Bill Ward (drums). With 1973's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, heavy metal godfathers Black Sabbath made a concerted effort to prove their remaining critics wrong by raising their creative stakes and dispensing unprecedented attention to the album's production standards, arrangements, and even the cover artwork. As a result, bold new efforts like the timeless title track, "A National Acrobat," and "Killing Yourself to Live" positively glistened with a newfound level of finesse and maturity, while remaining largely faithful, aesthetically speaking, to the band's signature compositional style. In fact, their sheer songwriting excellence may even have helped to ease the transition for suspicious older fans left yearning for the rough-hewn, brute strength that had made recent triumphs like Master of Reality and Vol. 4 (really, all their previous albums) such undeniable forces of nature. But thanks to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath's nearly flawless execution, even a more adventurous experiment like the string-laden "Spiral Architect," with its tasteful background orchestration, managed to sound surprisingly natural, and in the dreamy instrumental "Fluff," Tony Iommi scored his first truly memorable solo piece. If anything, only the group's at times heavy-handed adoption of synthesizers met with inconsistent consequences, with erstwhile Yes keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman bringing only good things to the memorable "Sabbra Cadabra" (who know he was such a great boogie-woogie pianist?), while the robotically dull "Who Are You" definitely suffered from synthesizer novelty overkill. All things considered, though, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath was arguably Black Sabbath's fifth masterpiece in four years, and remains an essential item in any heavy metal collection. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia 1974's SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH is widely considered to be Black Sabbath's last true classic album. The musical experimentation that began on 1972's VOL. 4 was continued here, but this time it took the form of subtle synthesizer colorings (instead of VOL. 4's tranquil ballads). And whereas its predecessor didn't contain a true, instantly recognizable Sabbath anthem (save for "Snowblind"), SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH's title track resumed the quartet's penchant for penning heavy metal compositions that sounded like they were tailor made for being blasted in a huge arena. While the title track is the album's best-known song, SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH proved to be another in a long line of 100% filler-free records from Ozzy and co. Highlights included the creepy "Who Are You?," plus the Tony Iommi riff-mongers "A National Acrobat," "Killing Yourself to Live," and "Sabra Cadabra," a song that Metallica would cover on its 1998 release GARAGE INC. You'll also find one of Sabbath's most haunting yet serene instrumentals, "Fluff," as well as the melodic album-closing rocker, "Spiral Architect." SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH is quintessential heavy metal.Q (1/01, p.122) - 3 out of 5 stars - "...Session man Rick Wakeman's influence can be felt...keenly on '73's keyboard heavy SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH..." I have played it since the month it came out, and never tire of its immense production, and the contrasting light touchs. Lyricaly it is Geezers' best set, and Ossie does full justice to it. Legend has it this was written and performed in a cocaine storm- the proof however, is a densely arranged, very forward moving set that sounds like nothing else, ever. Too many great moments to list, but a favourite is Tonys' deftly picked acoustic guitars at the intro to SPIRAL ARCHITECT- goosebump time. I submit this is a cornerstone of every discerning hard rock collection. Submitted by David Martin (Mt Martha, Australia.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 9 of 9 found this helpful.

Black Sabbath's Masterpiece from Ozzy era. I've been listening to this recording for nearly 30 years now and it never gets old. Excellent tracks from beginning to end. Production is great and musicianship is brilliant. Tony Iommi is the riff metal God. Ozzy's vocals are perfect for this album. This CD is definitely one of my top five metal releases of all time. Yet another classic from the Ozzy era BS!!! I had just bought this album on CD, and I really enjoy it. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is one of Sabbath's most influencial albums. Every track is a classic especially "Fluff" which is one of the greatest insturmentals Sabbath ever made and which also closed the legendary "Live Evil" album! Submitted by Nicholas (Litchfield. classic black sabbath i first heard this back in early 1983,and i was blown away at how great it sounds.there is an acoustic guitar ballad(with piano)song in "fluff",and a keyboard-rock song in "who are you".the song "sabbra cadabra" has a killer opening guitar riff, while the other songs sound like typical 70's black sabbath.this is another album high on the list of albums i like.no heavy metal fan should be without this. | | Accept Restless And Wild CD (1982) Remastered
Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath
$10.45 Udo Dirkschneider: "This is surely the most important Accept album. "Fast as a Shark" is considered by many to be the very first speed metal song written, not to mention the unusual intro (which was sung by a 12 year old Dieter Dierks together with an girl who remains unknown to us) You could say that "Princess of the Dawn" and "Fast as a Shark" are considered classics today. With this album, America came calling for the first time and the rest is history."
Accept includes: Udo Dirkschneider (vocals); Hermann Frank Jr., Wolf Hoffman (guitar); Peter Baltes (bass); Stefan Kaufmann (drums). Accept: Udo Dirkschneider (vocals); Wolf Hoffmann , Jörg Fischer (guitar); Peter Baltes (bass guitar); Stefan Kaufmann (drums). In the rankings of heavy metal heroes, Accept are too often swept aside, but they were key in the creation of thrash and speed metal, two of the most dominant subgenres of the 1980s and beyond. Ample evidence for their contribution is presented on their fourth album, 1982's RESTLESS AND WILD. Opener "Fast as a Shark" is indeed that, racing full force with some of the fastest drumming to be heard up to that point. The rest of the album isn't nearly as juiced up, but features an undeniably tough metallic crunch that was virtually unmatched at the time. "Ahead of the Pack" is a spiked wristband anthem, perfect for shaking the foundations of a European soccer stadium, "Neon Nights" oozes after-dark danger, and "Flash Rockin' Man" prefigures Motley Crüe by several years. BALLS TO THE WALL may be their calling card, but RESTLESS AND WILD is Accept in peak form. Accept's creative breakthrough, 1983's ...

The Burns Sisters may not have announced their breakup after the release of their seventh album, Out of the Blue, on Philo Records in 2000, and they may not have announced their re-formation upon the release of their eighth album, Wild Bouquet, in 2006, but in the intervening years Annie Burns, Jeannie Burns, and Marie Burns worked separately, each releasing solo albums. If the reunion was long in coming, however, it seems very carefully timed. When Out of the Blue appeared, Bill Clinton was in the last year of his presidency, which, if it was marred by scandal, was also marked by peace and prosperity. That ...
