Time Loves a Hero album for sale Product Description

Time Loves a Hero album for sale by Little Feat was released Jan 01, 1987 on the Warner Bros. label. The Lowell George-fronted version of Little Feat pretty much reached the end of its tether with TIME LOVES A HERO. George had become disenchanted with the slicker, jazzier sound that keysman Bill Payne and guitarist Paul Barrere were moving towards (exemplified by the jazz-rock instrumental "Day at the Dog Races" and the Steely Dan-meets-Doobie Brothers "Red Streamliner"). Time Loves a Hero CD music contains a single disc with 9 songs.   ...See Full Description

One of the best unheards
This album puts out a wide variety of style and ability few people understand. The tracks run the gammit from a funky driving line (Hi Roller) to a couple tongue and cheek fun tunes to one of the best jazz instrumentals ever put out (Day at the Dog Races)

Which album are you listening to?
The rot had clearly set in by this time. Bringing in Ted Templeman as producer was a huge mistake. His work with the Doobie Brothers was first-class (and extremely successful) but this was, after all, Little Feat. Round peg. Square hole. "Day At The Dog Races" was an abomination.

Heroes Can Be Hard To Find
"Time Loves A Hero" can be best described as Paul Barrere's pet project...he wrote or co-wrote the majority of it. Unfortunately, it is the least impressive of Feat's 1970s catalog as Lowell George's influence is further on the ebb than it was on "The Last Record Album"; he only contributed two songs...one a co-write...as the band further descended into Weather Report jazz-rock fusion territory. Perhaps this downslide can be seen as inevitable as George's health was failing and "Hero" was put together while he was working on his sole solo record. It's not that this is a bad effort; it's just bad for Little Feat. The best moments are the Hawaiian flavored title track, "New Delhi Freight Train" (not even an original), and the opening section of the meandering instrumental "Day At The Dog Races". The piece commences with a killer synthesizer riff but could have been about three minutes shorter. For Feat fanatics only.
