Gathering selected highlights from the Grateful Dead's years at Warner Bros. Records, this mid-1970s best-of includes favorites like "Truckin'" and "Dark Star," in addition to earlier tracks like "New, New Minglewood Blues" from their eponymous first album and songs culled from their live set like "St. Stephen" and "Cumberland Blues." Though no conventional greatest hits collection could begin to make a dent in the band's extensive recorded oeuvre, this is an excellent basic overview of the Dead's live and studio output.

I am 15 years old and most of my family are dead heads. I have been listening to the since i was 10. This was the second album i bought and i love it. Great album full of the best grateful dead songs.

This was the first LP of The Dead I purchased (way back when) because I was looking for an introduction to their music.
It's even better on CD because you don't have to get up to change sides, just let the great music roll on and on....

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils' third album for A&M continues their good-natured Southern chooglin' with hints of a newfound mid-70s AM pop vibe. Although it was recorded in Nashville, The Car Over the Lake Album has a distinctly Californian vibe on several tracks, particularly those written and sung by drummer Larry Lee, whose contributions could ride along "Ventura Highway" with any of America's recordings. Despite this warm Beach Boys influence, the album is still a Southern rocker, evident on "Keep on Churning," "Leatherwood," and the slightly goofy "Gypsy Forest."
