| | Clay Walker Hypnotize The Moon CD Clay Walker Discography of CDs
Clay Walker's Hypnotize the Moon is his most assured, cohesive album to date. Walker shines on both polished, contemporary ballads and gritty traditional country, and his consistently excellent performance is what carries the album over the weak spots. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Country sensation Clay Walker's HYPNOTIZE THE MOON is another satisfying collection of broadly themed love songs guaranteed to please his considerable fan base. On this, his third release, Walker doesn't stray far from the formula that has earned him platnium status and a number of country #1 hits. The native Texan continues to charm, whether it's with haunting ballads like "Where Were You," or uptempo fare such as "A Cowboy's Toughest Ride," one of four tunes co-written by Walker himself. Recorded with a smart set of Nashville's finest session musicians, and produced by his long-time collaborator James Stroud, HYPNOTIZE THE MOON also features songs composed by some of the genre's best and brightest songwriters. Of particular interest is a new track by Steve Wariner, "Love Me Like You Love Me."

Hypnotize The Moon
$9.95 There's nothing on IT MATTERS TO ME as brash as her country take on the rock classic "Piece Of My Heart." Otherwise, Faith Hill's second album sounds like her first--twangy country with working-class heart, a sassy voice reminiscent of Loretta Lynn, and a sense of social relevance learned from Reba McEntire. Best of all, Hill still cuts across a range of styles, refusing to be tied down to any one of the sub-genres her influences might suggest.
"Bed Of Roses" and "You Will Be Mine" are assertive and rocking numbers about, respectively, keeping a lothario at bay and chasing a guy who's too shy to make the first move. On them, Hill's big southern voice is matched by jangling electric guitars that wouldn't be out of place on a Bruce Springsteen album. When it opens, "A Man's Home Is His Castle" could, in fact, be a piano ballad ...
