Clay Walker is a good journeyman singer. He has a strong voice, knows how to twist clichés to his advantage, and knows that straying too far from the clichés will lose his wide audience. In turn, that means that he's enjoyable, but a little predictable, which is an accurate assessment of Live, Laugh, Love, his fifth album. The album never really distinguishes itself from its predecessors. Like those records, it's a safe blend of pop ballads, mild rockers, and polished honky tonk, all delivered in Walker's twangy tenor. Even if the ballads occasionally touch on adult contemporary (witness "Once in a Lifetime Love"), it's considerably more country than, say, Tim McGraw, but the music doesn't show enough imagination and isn't organic enough to stand apart from the neo-traditionalist pack. That said, it's hardly bad -- the material may be uneven, but "She's Always Right" has a good sense of humor and "Lose Some Sleep Tonight" is quite good, while the title track is an amusing twist on Faron Young's "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young," a calypso-ish number that is designed for yuppies into hat music. Ultimately, Live, Laugh, Love drags a bit too much to rank among Walker's best, but it has its moments. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine The ladies sure love Clay Walker, and LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE, his fifth album, shows why. In songs like "She's Always Right" and "Woman Thing," Walker portrays himself as a sensitive guy who's alternately baffled and amused by his girlfriend's "womanly" qualities (liking chocolate, crying at movies, shopping, talking on the phone), but who's utterly powerless to resist them. In the rockin' "Cold Hearted," Walker is again powerless, this time in the face of a girl's sexuality. But amidst all this female-friendly material, LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE finds Walker reaching new heights as a vocalist. He gives the performance of his life on the passionate ballad "Once in a Lifetime," and wrings the emotion out of every word in his version of Earl Thomas Conley's hit "Holding Her and Loving You." Other highlights include "Chain of Love," with a payoff that's sure to give a listener goose bumps, and the joyous stomp "It Ain't Called the Heartland (For Nothin')." On the Mexican-flavored title track, Walker sounds like he's having a ball singing about living life to its fullest. But as Walker, who has multiple sclerosis, yells out "carpe diem" over the fadeout, the message of this deceptively simple song really hits home.

Live, Laugh, Love Clay's new cd, LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE, is great. Of course everyone's heard the single SHE'S ALWAYS RIGHT, but that's just the tip of the iceburg. The second song, MAYBE WE SHOULD LOSE SOME SLEEP TONIGHT, is a great song with a good melody, and hidden sexual inuendos. THE HARDEST THING I'VE EVER HAD TO DO (HOLDIN' HER AND LOVIN' YOU) is an awesome rendition of Earl Thomas Conley's great song. Clay puts a lot of feeling into the song. I FEEL THE HEAT, is a rocker. It has a great beat that drives home the passion of a man in love. WHAT IF ONCE IN A LIFETIME LOVE DON'T COME TWICE, is my favorite song on the new album. It reminds me a lot of THIS WOMAN AND THIS MAN. It has great emotion and Clay sings his butt off on this one. These are just a few of the great songs that make up this great album, which will be released in late August. I got a copy of the cd from Clay and I've already worn it out. It's great. Producers: Greg Penny, Ben Mink and K.D. Lang. Absolute Torch and Twang was the last bona fide country album of k.d. lang's career, and while external circumstances may have forced her hand in exploring other musical avenues, this set suggests she may have already been headed that way. Absolute Torch and Twang is the definitive statement of lang's country period; by this time, she'd moved past the slightly kitschy Patsy Cline homages of her earliest work ...

$15.15 I have been playing music since I picked up my dad’s mandolin in 1966 (my dad played in a Croatian / Serbian band before I was born). I also goofed around playing a 5-string banjo and of course finally… “the almighty guitarâ€. When most kids in my high school were going out for sports I used to rush home and listen to Bob Dylan. It came quite natural for me to play guitar and harmonica at the same time. I have also played in underground Atlanta and coffee houses in the midwest. I just finished my CD project in Nashville March 07. I like to write songs about our life in Christ, our hearts & minds, our goals, father & son relationships, our struggles and everyday relational life experiences. I am the worship leader at New Life Community Church in Mukwanago Wisconsin. I am a member of the GMA, ASCAP, Broadjam, Taxi, Indieheaven, Christian Songwriters Network, Artist Ovation & Bandmix. One of my songs called "Holiness on High" was voted into the top ten at Broadjam in Jan 2007. Also my song "Nashville, I Will" was chosen to be sent to California to be used as a possible TV pilot.
