"Electric Lullaby" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the "New Kid on the Strat," carries on the tradition of the blues masters, bringing the genre to a new generation of enthusiasts. His tonal sensibility, raw leads, and hard rock edge at times seem to pick up where the legacy of Stevie Ray Vaughan left off.
"Was" hints at an approach to blues that could be a signpost for the future. The contrast of programmed drums and slide guitar is eye-raising and risky, and yet works seamlessly for the song. Kenny Wayne puts his own Hendrix-laced spin on the Buddy Miles classic, "Changes." Not taking the often-traveled path of filling an album with standards and only a few originals, most of the songs on LIVE ON are originals, co-written by Kenny Wayne. "Shotgun Blues" is an admirable attempt at capturing the spirit of Stevie Ray, with a rousing and gritty harmonica solo. The standout track is the ballad "Last Goodbye." Kenny Wayne sings of a "fist of change tossed in the water just in case." It's not the first musical reference to the proverbial wishing well that we put our hopes in, but it's powerful and emotive. Without question, the blues do live on in Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd Live On Songs Live On Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) live on Thank god for Noah. I really like this cd much better than the first. There are alot nice songs. " Trouble Is" is still the best of them all. Submitted by a reviewer (Belleville, Wi USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Another great album Very seldom does musician have 2 great
albums in row. He definitely has that
funky blues sound down pack and it sounds really awesome with noah hunt vocals. I foresee only greatness with this artist. Submitted by draw12 (fort worth,tx) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
One of Rock's best The work on this CD is better then 'Trouble is' and 'Trouble is' was great. The riffs on this album are sorely missed in mainstream music. This isn't just great blues, it's great rock. Nobody's doing music like this anymore. Johnny Lang is weak compared to this. These guys are still growing. In 5 years they will be untouchable if they stay on pace. Great, driving, guitar screaming music. Submitted by Tsltuohy (Chisholm, Mn) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
modern guitar blues if you liked ledbetter heights, you'll find the next two recordings by Kenny's Band even better. He changed singers to better fit his guitar playing and it worked like a charm. Noah Hunt is perfect with the guitar and Shepherd can write. They usually cover a song or two per album, but in tribute, not to fill space. He's a talented man, if you like the guitar played in a bluesy fashion, Kenny is your man. Submitted by a reviewer (near philly pa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
