Miller also penned the romantic "More than Friends". James and Sanborn join compositional forces on "Moon Tune" and "Never Enough." Sanborn contributes the popular "It's You," a tune that features James prominently. "Maputo" may be the DOUBLE VISION's instrumental highlight, but Al Jarreau's vocal on "Since I Fell for You" is the album's romantic peak. This 1986 collaboration ranks top among contemporary jazz albums.
David Sanborn's saxophone complements Bob James' keyboards perfectly on the appropriately titled DOUBLE VISION. Sanborn, James, and bassist Marcus Miller all contribute compositions, and the listener encounters a wonderful variety of musical styles throughout the album's seven tracks. DOUBLE VISION opens on its highest note with Miller's "Maputo," a lush and moody song that highlights Sanborn's skills and sets the pace for the rest of the recording.
Personnel includes: Bob James (keyboards); David Sanborn (alto saxophone); Al Jarrerau (vocals).
Q (5/95, p.132) - 2 Stars - Average - "...More than a trifle bland, the combined talents of bassist Marcus Miller, drummer Steve Gadd and guest vocalist Al Jarreau do little to inject it with life." Mojo (Publisher) (2/04, p.110) - 4 stars out of 5 - "[T]his is a singularly beautiful summit of two fusion giants." Double Vision album
$38.49 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman Brothers collection nor the gift to hardcore fans that, say, THE BOOTLEG SERIES is to Dylan-philes.

| | Poco Forgotten Trail (1969-74) CDs (1990)
Double Vision CD music
$15.95 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first eight albums, as well as unreleased cuts and singles. From the classic anthem "Pickin' Up the Pieces," which kicks things off, through "You Better Think Twice," "C'mon," "Kind Woman," "From the Inside," "A Good Feelin' to Know," "Crazy Eyes," and on and on, this is wonderful music, ahead of its time in many ways. If Poco had arrived on the scene in the early '90s, they would have been kings of the country charts. Of course, without Poco, country music wouldn't have taken on the rock ...
| | Bob James Playin' Hooky CD (1997)
Double Vision music CDs
$7.59 Principally recorded at Remidi Studios, Dobbs Ferry, New York.
All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
The master of lite-jazz keyboard stylings unleashes his playful side on PLAYIN' HOOKY. Bob James has long been a favorite among today's young urban professionals who find pop music a little too rambunctious and jazz just a bit too harsh. This album gives James' fans plenty to enjoy. With such distinguished guests as Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Dave Samuels, and Chuck Loeb this disc contains some solid, yet subtle, performances. Once again, Bob seems to say "sit back and relax" while adding just a dash of youthful mischief.
The grooves are easy and consistent on such gems as "Mind Games," "Hook, Line & Sinker," and "Love Is Where." Some playful curiosities show up in "Playing With Fire," which is based on Chopin's ...
| | Firefall Luna Sea CD (1977)
Double Vision songs
$9.55 LUNA SEA includes four songs that were unused from the original recording sessions for the album.
After introducing their mild, country-rock charm with 1976's Firefall, Rick Roberts and the band were right back at it a year later with Luna Sea. Following in the footsteps of their debut release, Luna Sea attached the same type of silky harmonies to light, breezy acoustics which confirmed the band's comfortable residence in their genre. Although Firefall's first album contained three hit singles (two of them making the Top 40), Luna Sea has Roberts fully revealing the influences that the Flying Burrito Brothers had on him during his stint with the group. Like their first album, Luna Sea went gold, and it netted them a number 11 hit with the glistening "Just Remember I Love You," with Timothy B. Schmit helping out on background vocals. "So Long" was also a ...
| | Mike Bloomfield Super Session CD (1968) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Double Vision album
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's ...
