All music written by Mark Knopfler. Mark Knopfler's original music for The Princess Bride utilizes dreamy washes of synthesizers overlayed with warm acoustic instruments and hints of percussion. It's a great formula, often drifting through a gauze befitting a film that plays like a fairy tale. At the same time, songs like "Cliffs of Insanity" and "The Fireswamp and the Rodents of Unusual Size" cleverly acknowledge the movie's quirky humor even as they advance the plot with urgent notes or shimmering synth trills. "The Friends' Song"'s gently plucked acoustic guitar and whistle suggests the bardic tradition, while the main theme "Once Upon a Time...Storybook Love" is as romantic and pastoral as the film itself. ~ Johnny Loftus

Buy this if you love the movie I absolutely LOVE the Princess Bride, ever since I was seven years old, so when I got the soundtrack, I can't stop listening to it!! In fact, one of the songs, Florin Dance, I didn't recognize that point in the movie, but became one of my favorite parts in the soundtrack.
I would recommend this soundtrack to anyone who loves the movie as much as I do. Submitted by Jenstarpilot (Salt Lake City, UT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Non Typical Knopfler Although this album follows the script of the movie it has moments of boredom & non melody type music which is not typical of Knopfler. However, there is enough music here for the true Knofler to show through which makes the album a must have for this talented artist, Submitted by stahnke (Richmond Hill,NSW, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Photographers: Glen E. Friedman; Jerry Busher. Unknown Contributor Role: Jason Farrell. Scary -- "Closed Captioned" through "Foreman's Dog" provides the worst stretch of material Fugazi have recorded, full of disjointed patches and awkward moments. There's a virtually complete disregard for linearity that makes things seem stitched together, rather than the seamlessness you've grown accustomed to. Within that chunk and various points in the remainder, the arrangements sound like they're on the verge of collapse, and not in a violently riveting manner. One thing comes to mind, and that's boredom -- perhaps not for the artists involved, but likely for the listener. There are some great moments, however, so End Hits only dips its toes in failure. The epileptic "Lust for Life"-style "Five Corporations" has the riffs and rage, with Ian MacKaye taking the music industry to task for being ...
