At times, F.U.C.K. recalls the sleek hard rock of Hagar's early-'80s albums, and it's undeniable that his limited vocal power had a great deal to do with the obvious nature of most of this music. Although 1988's OU812 was another mega-seller for Van Halen, it turned out to be a somewhat rushed affair, since the group was under a strict deadline to finish it in time for the start of the band's summer concert festival, "Monsters of Rock." More time was spent on 1991's FOR UNLAWFUL CARNAL KNOWLEDGE, and it shows--it's one of the best and most consistent Van Halen release of the Sammy Hagar era. It also turned out to be the line-up's heaviest and most rock-oriented release, due in part to the involvement of Led Zeppelin producer Andy Johns.
The album spawned several popular singles and MTV videos, such as the album-opening "Poundcake" (which the group performed live on the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards), and the more pop-oriented tracks "Runaround," "Top of the World," and "Right Now." Also featured was the Eddie Van Halen solo guitar piece "316" (written for his newly-born son, Wolfgang), as well as "Judgement Day," "Pleasure Dome," and "Man on a Mission." The ensuing tour for the album eventually resulted in Van Halen's first live album, 1993's LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW. If you like any rock music what so ever, you have to get this. Every thing about it is great. If you are going to get 5 Van Halen albums get this, Van Halen 1, 1984, 5150, and fair warning. I Know you will enjoy these recordings. By the way Roth and Hagar are both great singers, and if you are a fan of Van Halen and hate one or the other you are not a true fan.

The Best Yet
I've never heard a better VH album. The grunge style gives it a more 90's feel. H#ll of a lot better than their 1995 studio follow-up, Balance!

This album is a little more consistant than the last, but it's also not as great in the good parts. Poundcake and Judgement Day are killer, Pleasure Dome has some absolutely killer guitar and drums, even if it's not that heavy, and This Dream is Over is pretty dang cool. There really is no weak song on this album, but nothing makes me pee my pants with glee either. ONe thing to mention, this is the best sounding album since 1984.

vanhalen rocks
IVE heard the album i love with great guitar work by eddie the solo 316 the song poundcake judgement day with the great power of eddie on guitar and alexs fast drums on the songs and also sammys awsome voice and lets not forget the michel athony on bass
sammy was better then david on vocals you should buy all vanhalen's albums that have sammy hagar in it the best vocalist

Well....It starts off great,with Poundcake,and Judgement day,two of their best songs,and it has Right Now which needs no explanation,the blusey Solo 316,Top Of The World,and Dream is over,but besides that i dont like the album that much,the middle of it isnt that great and that what kills it for me.

The Nat Adderley Sextet's Soul Zodiac could easily have been buried in a time capsule as an example to future generations of the ideas that were in the air in late 60s/ early 70s popular culture. A concept album based on the signs of the Zodiac, a hip narration, psychedelic guitars and some fatback drums. Paradoxically it was this level of vogueishness, that for many years consigned it to the parts of the jazz catalogue that time had forgotten. However in the early 90s the acid jazz scene discovered its funk filled grooves and hip hop producers used those very grooves as the building blocks of their own records, turning the album into a sought after collector's item. The Adderley brothers were born in Florida, Julian, more famously known as 'Cannonball' in 1928 and Nat in 1931. Cannon became a renowned alto saxophonist, and one of the leading bandleaders of his day. Signing in 1955 to Mercury Records, but making himself a national name when he joined the Miles Davis Sextet in 1957 being present on the recording of Davis' most enduring album Kind Of Blue. After leaving Davis he signed to the New York independent jazz label Riverside where he began to score a series of jazz hits that would make his group one of the most successful jazz bands of the time.
