Ambrosia's third album (and first for Warner Bros.) is more commercial and less conceptual than their first two releases, Somewhere I've Never Travelled and the self-titled Ambrosia. The album opens effectively with the title track, which is about life, or the lack thereof, in Los Angeles. The better songs on this album, including the title track and the top ten single "How Much I Feel," were written and sung by lead vocalist/multi-instrumentalist David Pack. ~ Tim Griggs

Ambrosia Life Beyond L.A. Songs Life Beyond L.A. Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews ANOTHER masterpiece I can't say enough about this album and band. WAY ahead of their time, Ambrosia forged a musical landscape which encompassed Prog, Jazz, Pop, Rock, and even Classical into their career.
It is a shame that they never really received the recognition they deserved.
I would consider them a "musicians band" because it takes a musician to fully appreciate the talents that these guys bring to the table. Of course, even the casual listener would enjoy their sound, and there is a special chemistry when Ambrosia writes, records and plays.
Although the popular radio hit "How Much I Feel" is on this album, there is so much more than that to this band and this CD.
This particular album starts off with an energetic rocker (that STILL brings the crowd to its feet when they play it live) and moves to a Beatlesque vocal song on Art Beware (incredible harmonies!) which seemlessly morphs into the jazzy Apothecary. The lyrics stand out as much as the music and anyone and everyone should appreciate the beauty of this album.
Although David Pack is no longer with the band, they are STILL playing out and sound as good as ever. I would encourage anyone to see them. Submitted by RTL44 (Columbus, OH) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

a tastful variety of pop, rock, funk, jazz&blues. This album is not as progressive as the first two, although it has its moments it is still a musical, vocal and lyrical masterpice in my opinion.David reveals a contemporary side with Dancin' By Myself and How Much I Feel while Joe defines heart&soul with Heart to Heart and Camarillo and they seem to flow into a natural groove with the rest.
