GIFT OF THE TORTOISE is a children's album of Zulu songs and stories narrated by Gcina Mhlophe, with music by Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Johnny Clegg.
Best known in America for their collaboration with Paul Simon on his albums "Graceland" and "Rhythm Of The Saints," Ladysmith Black Mambazo now offer this new album for children of ceremonial dances and music of the Zulu people. Enthusiastic narration is provided by Fudugazi, and an old troubadour tortoise played by popular South African performer, producer and director Gcina Mhlophe. The Narrator segues the different song titles. Not what I expected, but still entertaining. Gift of the Tortoise resembles childhood storytelling in a musical format.

 A gift indeed!
Great sounds, funny tales and a good message are hard to beat, and this CD has them all. If you love the rhythms of Paul Simon's Graceland, you will find this a real listening pleasure. My only regret is that the 37 minutes playing time wasn't made a little longer. Matt McCullough, Grapevine TX.

Engaging, fun, rhythmic song & story
Excellent all around, wish more children's cd's reflected the wonderful storytelling and song (by children) my kids age 5-8 love it over and over.
