| | Van Halen Live: Right Here, Right Now CD Van Halen Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
It will forever remain a mystery why the mighty original Van Halen line-up never released a live recording, especially because they were one of the better live hard rock bands to hit the stage. The first official live Van Halen recording was the 1993 two-CD set, LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW, which collected 24 tracks from various tours with singer Sammy Hagar (spanning 1986-92). David Lee Roth-era songs are kept to a bare minimum, and almost the entire FOR UNLAWFUL CARNAL KNOWLEDGE featured. Such later-Van Halen favorites as "Poundcake," "Why Can't This Be Love," "Right Now," "When It's Love," and "Best of Both Worlds" are featured. Also included is a cover of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," Hagar's solo composition "One Way to Rock," and the Roth-standards "Panama," "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love," "You Really Got Me," and "Jump."
Van Halen: Sammy Hagar (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars); Edward Van Halen (guitar, keyboards, background vocals); Michael Anthony (bass, background vocals); Alex Van Halen (drums, percussion).

Q (4/93, p.91) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "...Van Halen have continued to prosper under the saw-toothed leadership of chief belter and shouter Sammy Hagar....120 minutes of prime time Van Halen from the last seven years..." Live: Right Here, Right Now Music Van Halen Live: Right Here, Right Now Songs Live: Right Here, Right Now Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) VAN HAGAR LIVE RULEZ! Van Halen under the leadership of Sammy Hagar was one of the best live acts ever. The experience would blow you away. The raw power and clarity of Eddie and Sammy is apparent on these fine double album release. Most of the album highlights the "For Unlawful Carnel Knowledge" album the best effort of the Van Halen Sammy years other than the classic "5150". "One way to Rock" and "Finish What you Started" are amazzing displays of guitar wars between the too veteran rockers. The Who tribute is a extra treat. Roth (1978-1985,1996)had the showmenship and charisma but didn't sing well live where as Sammy Hagar (1986-1996) will always be remembered for his voice and new age vocals about love, aliens and poundcake! Long live Van Halen! Submitted by jan_rieger (Denver, CO) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
ALIVE Great live album, dont think, just listen and love it.Sammy sounds great live and the band tears it off onstage.I interludes during and after songs, especially in Panama when sammy says 'Fudge' TOMMOROW and the rest that he says, its simple but its so true man.I love the Solos and i love the songs, though sammy sings some of DLR songs a bit to quick. It still amazes me why Van Halen with David Lee Roth never released an offical Live album when they were at their Brown Sound powers. | | Van Halen Balance CD (1995)
Live: Right Here, Right Now songs
$7.35 "The Seventh Seal" was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
What happens when rowdy rockers get older? Hopefully, if they're like Eddie, Sammy and the boys, they can achieve a BALANCE between the fire from their youth and the more serious demands of maturing rock stars.
The struggle for BALANCE is apparent in songs about strained relationships, drugs and greed. The topics of Sammy's lyrics range from personal turmoil ("I need a change, I need it quick before it makes me sick...I don't like what I've been told ...
| | Van Halen Best Of Volume I CD (1996)
Live: Right Here, Right Now album
$14.09 Digitally remastered by Chris Bellman (Bernie Grundman Studios, Los Angeles, California).
Almost evenly split between tracks that feature glammy showman David Lee Roth and those that feature earthy screecher Sammy Hagar, BEST OF VOLUME I seems designed to let this pioneering hard-rock band's fans compare and contrast between its two frontmen. As if to drive the exercise home, BEST OF features three tunes cut in '96--two of them with Roth, who had been estranged from the band since 1985, and one with Hagar ("Humans Being," originally released on the soundtrack to TWISTER).
Otherwise, BEST OF presents the hits in chronological order, beginning with the unadorned, aggressive sound of the early Roth ...

$8.59 Recorded in Cassadaga, New York, New York between April 1997 and February 1999.
With their multi-disc opus ZAIREEKA (four CDs meant to be played simultaneously on four different players), the Flaming Lips radically expanded the scope of their melancholy psychedelia, as pop tunes became modernist soundscapes, part-Pink Floyd, part-John Cage. Obviously, the experience greatly influenced the band's direction, because on THE SOFT BULLETIN the Lips again scrap the guitar-bass-drum rock standard, sculpting instead a huge hi-fi record akin to a post-modern PET SOUNDS with the ...

$25.29 Neither time, nor the deaths of founding members, nor claims that they'll never play together again seem to stop the legendary Who. On 2006's ENDLESS WIRE, the band's first official studio full-length since 1982's IT'S HARD, Pete Townshend is still folding progressive structures and lofty themes into bombastic, arena-ready rock, while Roger Daltrey belts it out as though it were ...
