(5 Customer Reviews)
THE CELTS is the 1992 re-release of a 1987 album simply titled ENYA, containing 15 selections originally composed for a BBC series of the same name. Although a number of the tracks sound dated, several others, including "To Go Beyond (II)" are notable for how they locate the origins of the classic Enya sound, far removed from earlier Celtic efforts.
A tidy, dreamlike piece, "Epona," is about the Horse Goddess, closely connected to Rhiannon, whose birds are said to awaken the dead. The tale of a rebellious ancient queen who poisoned herself, "Boadicea" finds Enya humming over a dark keyboard refrain.

Magic, dream, attraction... I just love it! So many years this CD makes something magical with me . It's like a music of Undinas and Elves...so magnificent, spiritual.

~*Enya*~ If you like soft, angel-voice music, then this is the album for you! Not only is her english-speaking songs outstanding but, her gaelic songs are twice as good! (This is a good escape from the 'Backstreet Boys') She is great to listen to if you just want to wind down and relive stress. She's also great to listen to if you want something to sing along with. A must get for any music lover. She's great for pop lovers and also for the gaelic lovers! A must get!! Submitted by a reviewer (Jacksonville, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Good Album Since I've only heard 2 Enya albums, I don't have much of a base, but this is GREAT music! I absolutely love it, I'm hooked. It's got good rhythms, and also has a variety of songs. It's definitely worth the money. Submitted by a reviewer (Prairie Village, KS) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Celts music CDs
$11.89 Connie Dover has never made a bad album, so why should she start now? As always, the program features an assortment of songs from Ireland, Scotland, and America, though the mix leans a bit more heavily to the American side this time out. Dover's affection for both cowboy songs and Irish ballads has always led to strange juxtapositions (remember how "Lough Erne's Shore" was followed by "Jack of Diamonds" on her solo debut?), but she's always been able to make it work, and this time is no different. Here she delivers a fascinating medley consisting of two versions of the cowboy chestnut "Streets of Laredo," one of them the familiar version and the other the Irish song from which it came, originally titled "The Sailor Cut Down in His Prime." This album also marks what is probably the first time "Sweet Betsy From Pike" has been recorded ...
| | B B King Mr. Blues CD (2006)
Celts songs
$6.39 With Hip-O Select's North American CD reissue of B.B. King's Mr. Blues (1963) in 2006, this comparatively inferior and overpriced import is rendered inconsequential. The original long-player was the artist's first for ABC-Paramount and centers on a trio of early-'60s sessions -- March 1, 1962 with the Maxwell Davis Orchestra, September 19, 1962 as Belford Hendricks arranges, and April 11, 1963 under the guidance of Teacho Wilshire. Perhaps producer Sid Feller is the common denominator, however there is an immediate stylistic kinship between King's presentation of "Young Dreamers" and that of labelmate Ray Charles circa his groundbreaking Modern Sounds in Country & Western Music (1962) era. Among the most startling similarities are the strong presence of the backing singers -- who, frankly might as well be co-leads along with King -- and the tinge of gospel influence heard in the soulful organ accompaniment. All of which occurs before King even sings or plays his first note. "On My Word of Honor" is the other entry from the same Teacho Wilshire-led recordings and bears a similar full-bodied production. The four Belford Hendricks-directed cuts are more in keeping with the modern electric blues. "By Myself" and "A Mother's Love" are similar in structure as King's mature and expressive vocals are at the heart and soul of both. More heavy-handed are the syrupy stringed setting of "Tomorrow Night" and the Jesse Belvin co-penned "Guess Who." The remainder of Mr. Blues [King] provides a platform for B.B. King's true and natural artistry to surface. The tight punch of Maxwell Davis' horn section on the covers of the "Chains of Love" and "Blues at Midnight," serve to accent King's blues testifyin'. They join the pre-British Invasion sounding rave-ups "My Baby's Comin' Home" and "I'm Gonna Sit in 'Til You Give In" to be marked by some of King's unmistakably buoyant fretwork. ~ Lindsay Planer
To suggest that B.B. King's ABC-Paramount debut LP Mr. Blues (1963) is stylistically diverse is an understatement. Granted, cohesion might not have been top priority to a label who actually sandwiched Mr. Blues between releases by Fats Domino and the New York Salvation Army Staff Band. Another rationale is that the album was filled with a dozen tracks cut during three disparate dates. These chronologically commence March 1, 1962 with the Maxwell Davis Orchestra. Then, nearly seven months later on September 19, 1962, King is backed by Belford Hendricks and ensemble. Finally on April 11, 1963, he joins Teacho Wilshire to collectively produce enough material to cobble together this compile. Fortunately, half of Mr. Blues is derived from the superior Davis-led recordings, highlighted by the Ahmet Ertegun-inked "Chains of Love" -- a hit for blues shouter ...

Celts songs
$18.29 There may only be two members from Hanoi Rocks' classic days left in attendance -- singer Michael Monroe and guitarist Andy McCoy -- but the early 21st century version of the group has no problem replicating its trademark glam-punk. Case in point, 2007's Street Poetry. With countless modern-day rock bands smoothing out all the rough edges, it's good to know that you can count on Hanoi Rocks to leave it all rough and raw. And while there may be a sudden uprising of bands that attempt to ape Hanoi Rocks' gutter-punk style, there's nothing like the originators, as evidenced by such rocking standouts as "Hypermobile," "Highwired," "Teenage Revolution," and the melodic title track. With only two of the original Hanoi Rockers creating this enjoyable of a racket, it's safe to say that if the definitive 1984 line-up had stayed together, they could have become ...
