Dead Can Dance singer Lisa Gerrard teams up with percussionist Pieter Bourke on this experiment in musical "fusion cooking." In fact, the selections on DUALITY exemplify the belief that, in the end, all musical styles are related.
Gerrard's voice is heard on DUALITY in a number of contexts. From the liturgical leanings of "The Comforter," which features multi-tracked Gerrard vocals, to the stark Middle Eastern-inflected "Shadow Magnet," this album abounds with references to exotic lands and ancient musical styles. Droning undercurrents, striking uses of Eastern modalities, gorgeous layers of baroque harmonies, and intense world-beat percussion all contribute to DUALITY's charm and magnetism. "Nadir (Synchronicity)" offers a cross section of humanity given the fluttering Eastern melody, the West African hand-drumming, and the sleek, contemporary production. Like the music of Dead Can Dance, this album explores the four corners of the earth with the hope of building a better bridge between cultures and epochs.
Out of print in the U.S.! Duality is the second solo album from Dead Can Dance's mesmerizing vocalist, originally released in 1998. Collaborating with long-time percussionist Pieter Bourke, Gerrard creates a beautiful mixture of Gothic and tribal sounds and, as usual, sounds like nothing else on earth. 4AD.

Entertainment Weekly (5/15/98, p.102) - "...Aided by longtime percussionist Pieter Bourke, the Dead Can Dance mainstay swoops kingfisher low one minute and soars kestrel high the next, from an aerie of gothic keyboards and tribal drums. It's a sophisticated, visceral sound not found in any Top 40 cage, or in the field guide." - Rating: A- Lisa Gerrard Duality Songs Duality Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews amazing! same as above; truly a great album! Mistake but a good one I purchased this CD thinking it was another one. As it turns out this one was good enough to keep and not send back.

Gerrard/Bourke bypass DCD??? The otherwordly ululations of Lisa Gerrard made Dead can Dance the group to watch. But later DCD albums got bogged down in poppish stylings and watered down the driving rhythms of their earlier greats like their self-titled album, their singles release, and "Spleen and Ideal". Duality features Gerrard moving on to new heights that may prove more legitimate than the final four releases from the Dead Can Dance. Bourke is an apt percussionist and replaces Brendan Perry as her partner on this (and other) projects. Surprisingly, Perry is never missed as Lisa Gerrard takes up where she left off with the DCD. (Note that some of the tracks on this release are also available on the film soundtrack to "The Insider".) Submitted by a reviewer (Alpharetta, GA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Duality CD music
$12.39 I REMEMBER MILES won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.
This stunning album is Shirley Horn's loving tribute to her friend and colleague, the legendary late Miles Davis. Davis was so taken by Horn's first album EMBERS AND ASHES that he forced The Village Vanguard to let her virtually-unknown trio open for him during his 1961 run there. Their friendship and admiration for each other's music lasted through the years, and Shirley Horn's 1991 recording YOU WON'T FORGET ME, was one of the last recordings Miles Davis made.
Horn selected mostly ballads from Davis' Columbia Records catalogue for her tribute because, as she explains in the liner notes, Davis liked her to sing ballads, and ...

$6.89 This is the original first EP released by Atomsplit in 1997. The songs were fast, punky, and raw and some of the most exciting to come out of the late 90's Atlanta music scene. The lead off track "Millisent" is an in your face driving song about a fictional love affair with the Dark Queen of Snow White. Thie song won a 1996 Georgia Songwriters Association award for Best Rock Song. The second track, "SO OVER YOU" would become Atomsplit's most popular song and an encore at 90% of gigs. ...
