Canadian singer Paul Brandt's third album certainly doesn't lack for variety. From tender ballads, to a chilling song about child abuse, to a rave-up written by swing revivalist Brian Setzer, TELL THE TRUTH covers the full spectrum of modern country music. Brandt co-wrote three songs, including the tongue-twisting title track, but he also shows a real talent for choosing well-crafted, unusual and amusing songs. "It's A Beautiful Thing," for example, is an utterly charming number that takes every marriage clichT there is and sculpts it into the aural equivalent of a home wedding video, right down to the cans tied to the back of the limousine.
In the clever "There's A World Out There," the narrator declares his intentions to live life to its fullest, saying "Don't tell me the sky's the limit/There's footprints on the moon." Brandt's powerful voice is best used on the love songs like "Really and Truly" and "A Love That Strong," where he plays the devoted, sensitive guy to the hilt. On "That Hurts," his vocals practically drip with pain and heartbreak. On TELL THE TRUTH, Brandt proves that sometimes it takes a Canadian to put a fresh spin on an "American" genre of music.

That's The Truth CD music
$15.95 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first eight albums, as well as unreleased cuts and singles. From the classic anthem "Pickin' Up the Pieces," which kicks ...

That's The Truth songs
$31.89 This impressive four-disc set covers the early history of Cajun music with a careful eye for detail, beginning with Joseph Falcon's "Lafayette," released in 1928 and generally considered the first commercial Cajun record. An utterly unique mixture of French folk song mixed with American Indian, German, Spanish, Italian, Irish, and African (by way of the West Indies) elements, Cajun music generally relied on a twin-fiddle attack (one lead, one rhythm), and once the German diatonic accordion was introduced, heavy emphasis on the accordion. Song lyrics were usually in French Cajun patois, making Cajun a distinct musical genre in southwest ...
