Personnel: Rod Stewart (vocals); Fred Tackett (acoustic guitar); Jim Cregan, Gary Grainger, Billy Peek (guitar); Gary Horbig (flute); Tom Scott, Phil Kenzie, Steve Madaio (horns); Duane Hitchings (keyboards); Nicky Hopkins (piano); Philip Chen (bass); Carmine Appice (drums, background vocals); Roger Bethelmy (drums); Paulinho da Costa (percussion); Mike Finnigan, Max Gormenthal (background vocals). All tracks have been digitally remastered. In its simplest terms, Blondes Have More Fun is Rod Stewart's disco album, filled with pulsating rhythms and slick, synthesized textures. It's also his trashiest, most disposable album, filled with cheap come-ons and bad double entendres. Of course, that makes Blondes Have More Fun one of his most enjoyable records, even if all the pleasures are guilty. With its swirling strings and nagging chorus, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" was the reason the record hit number one, and decades later, the song stands as one of the best rock-disco fusions. The rest of the record isn't as engaging, but he throws out a handful of winning tracks in the same mold, including "Ain't Love a Bitch," "Attractive Female Wanted," and the title track. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine The breathier, rootsier classics of FOOT LOOSE AND FANCY FREE now firmly in place in the increasingly legendary Stewart canon, BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN saw the peroxided one continuing to change with the times. From the opening staccato bass and fluffy keyboard riffs of the album's classic "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy," the disco age had arrived, though, thankfully, it left Stewart's unique blend of charm and anger (the accusatory "Is That All The Thanks I Get?") intact, still his scratchy, sexy self against the album's backdrop of unabashedly commercial material (this was his best seller to date). Not that rock was ever off the agenda, as stated unarguably by the rollicking, rebellious I-IV-V rant of the title track. "Last Summer" bears all the earmarks of mellow FM rock (notably the flanged guitars and "jazzy" flute). The honest, close-up vocal take and deft fingerstyle guitar work of "The Best Days Of My Life" combine with slick songcraft and grandiose string arrangements to epitomize the commercial transition in Stewart's career that was marked by BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN.

Blondes Have More Fun Music Rod Stewart Blondes Have More Fun Songs Blondes Have More Fun Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Hey, it's Rod This is Rod in the late seventies. Disco was added to everything it seemed like. The Stones & Rod were able to pull it off cause the songs were great. Here's your evidence! It's a fun listen too. Even if you still hate Disco but like Rod's stuff , I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Submitted by Jamie (Athens , GA USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Personnel: Tom Araya (vocals); Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King (guitar); Dave Lombardo (drums). Audio Mixer: Greg Fidelman. Editor: Dan Monti. Photographer: Andrew Stewart. Of the "big four" original thrash bands (the other three being Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth), Slayer was the least compromising and most consistent. As such, 2009's WORLD PAINTED BLOOD recalled more than the title of Slayer's 1986 masterpiece REIGN IN BLOOD; it shared the earlier album's ferocious aggression and trademark speed metal-meets-hardcore sound. Throughout, the sound is ...

The Very Best of Otis Redding wasn't the first Otis Redding compilation but it is the best of the single-disc collections, distilling the high points across his career (up thru the posthumous hits "(Sitting' On) The Dock of the Bay" and the heartbreaking "I've Got Dreams to Remember") in 16 tracks, every one a musical milestone and a soul music high-point of one kind or another. The Paisleys include: Brad Stodden (vocals, guitar); Bill Smith (keyboards, background vocals); Dick Timm (bass, background vocals); Bob Belknap (drums, background vocals). Principally recorded at Audio City, Lake Minneapolis, Minnesota between 1969 & 1970. Originally released on Peace (70P-1). Includes liner notes by Dick Timm and Warren Kendrick. Personnel: Rick Youngberg (vocals, guitar); Bill Airey Smith (vocals, piano); Greg Payton, Bill Belknap (vocals, drums). Liner Note Author: Warren Kendrick. Recording information: Audio City Recording Studios (1968-1970). The Paisleys' sole album is period, late-'60s psychedelia, the kind that's not bad when you listen to it once in the background, but is hard to recall with any specific detail after it's been shelved. More based around relatively light electronic keyboards than many other similar records of the era, the songs are heavily colored by naïvely cosmic lyrics whose sentiments are easier to admire than they are to hear verbalized. A bit of irreverence pokes through in the Lothar & the Hand People-like phasing/electronic squiggle effects of "Now" and the Bo Diddley beat and simulated orgasmic squeals of "Diddley," though the harpsichord-textured "Wind" is a half-decent journey into the more ponderous, droning side of the psychedelic experience. The short songs on side one work much better than the 18-minute "Musical Journey" opus that takes up all of side two, including a pit stop for a mock baseball broadcast. ...

Blondes Have More Fun
$27.85 Dave Cousins offers a characteristic set of versatile folk-rock on The Boy in the Sailor Set, backed by the Blue Angel Orchestra. It's not a Strawbs album, but it shares similarities with many of the records he's recorded as leader of that group. The songs are on the somber storytelling side; the rock is sometimes harder than it is in most British folk-rock efforts; and Cousins' foggy voice exudes wary, and sometimes weary, stoicism and caution. ...
