Lauridsen: Lux Aeterna / Salamunovich, La Master Chorale Music Lauridsen: Lux Aeterna / Salamunovich, La Master Chorale Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Hauntingly beautiful This is some of the most ravishing music I have heard in years! "Lux Aeterna", in particular, makes me just melt when I hear it. The "Songs of the Rose" has actually moved me to tears! I am not a singer myself, but am a highly educated classical flutist with an interest in contemporary music, and I recommend this disk to all of my friends, and am giving it to several for Christmas this year. Superb performance, excellent recording I found this to be an excellant performance with the Los Angeles Choir.
Lux Aeterna is a beautiful work. Submitted by edwardking1 (London Ontario Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Worth Buying If you like chior with strings in the back ground, this is a good choice. The Lux Eterna is spiritual, elegant, and touching. The Ave Maria is a peek to heaven. Submitted by a reviewer (Seattle, WA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A composer worth knowing Someday I hope to sing music by Lauridsen, and this album is the reason I feel that way. Lux Aeterna is justly earning its fame, but the real treasures on this album are Dirait-on (the fifth of the Chansons) and O Magnum Mysterium. I'm not sure I care for the Mid-Winter Songs yet (hence the hold-back of the fifth star), but this album is worth owning by everyone interested in contemporary choral music. $18.29 This eponymous collection from the Past Perfect label collects 37 performances from Ella Fitzgerald's time with the Decca label during the late '30s and '40s -- a period where she was blooming but not yet in full flower. It's also a period that's been surveyed hundreds of times since the beginning of the LP era, and the sound is closer to fair than perfect. With just a few exceptions, ballads and standards are the order of the day, including "How High the Moon," ...
