Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Tom Petty (vocals, guitar); Mike Campbell (guitar); Benmont Tench (keyboards); Howie Epstein (bass); Stan Lynch (drums).
LET ME UP was seen as Petty's attempt to step away from the elaborate neo-psychedelic artifice of the ambitious SOUTHERN ACCENTS and get to back to straight-ahead rock & roll, but in fact, it's probably just the record he happened to feel like making at the time. That said, rock & roll doesn't get more straight-ahead than the power-riffing non sequitirs of the visceral "Jammin' Me," co-written with Petty's fellow Wilbury Bob Dylan. There's a distinct folk-rock flavor to the ballad "It'll All Work Out," a mandolin-laced ode to a typical Petty girl (faded jeans, leather jacket, etc.) On "Runaway Trains" and "My Life/Your World" things take a decidedly '80s-sounding turn. Mike Campbell's guitar on the former is redolent of his "Boys of Summer" collaboration with Don Henley, and the latter is powered by percolating synths.

Complete Mystery - Complete Gem WHY this great album did not catch on...?! And now it finds itself on a low budget CD label?
Something's drastically wrong. Really wish the record company would REMASTER this one and give it/us a second chance to appreciate this much overlooked recording. There is truly nothing not to like here...and if you are a Tom Petty fan...? Submitted by faust8577 (Lorraine, Que.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Highly overlooked album For the life of me, I can't understand why this album did not do better upon its initial release. The 80s production on it sounds a little dated by today's standards, but by far this is Petty's loosest record, like his "Exile on Main Street". "Jammin' Me" and the title track are two of Petty's strongest tunes, combining witty, sarcastic lyrics with irresistable melodies. Not a bad track in the bunch-if this album was rerecoded today minus the 80s production, it would be considered a rock and roll masterpiece. Submitted by Mike (Lancaster, PA) Was This Review Helpful? looking for obscure Petty? If you're looking for some obscure Petty material then look no further. Not his best album in my opinion, however it is one of my favorites. A few songs are obvious products of the 80's but the album as a whole is timeless. Submitted by Nate Dogg in (Denver, CO, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Within the space of two short years the Cure mysteriously transformed themselves from a more accessible Wire/Buzzcocks hybrid into the grandiose-haired gloom merchants they resembled for decades. While the international success of singles like "Boys Don't Cry" might have pointed to a continuation of the same formula, Smith decided to take the band into choppier waters. SEVENTEEN SECONDS marked the start of the Cure Phase II. Somewhat reminiscent of bands like Siouxsie & the Banshees (a group Smith played with for a few albums), SEVENTEEN SECONDS is not an album ...

Let Me Up (I've Had Enough) CD music
$14.65 Popol Vuh was founded by mastermind Florian Fricke in Munich in 1970 and are known as pioneers of electronic music as well as the predecessors of the 90's ambient and trance genre. Florian Fricke was one of the first German musicians who worked with a Moog III, an instrument which created a very new and special sound which was profiled on “Affenstunde". This album quickly became a milestone and practially created a whole new genre. The name and the book Popol Vuh stems from Incan mythology and is the memory of the evolution of humanity. Florian Fricke doesn't like to catagorize his music. "Music is a form of law for me." He died on December 29, 2001 in Munich. Kraut rock at the highest level made by, and for music fans!
