| | Lynyrd Skynyrd Gold And Platinum Cassette Tape Lynyrd Skynyrd Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Released barely two years after the tragic plane crash that took the lives of several members, Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1979 double album GOLD AND PLATINUM was the first in a long line of best-of compilations for the band. In addition to the exhaustive 1991 box set LYNYRD SKYNYRD, it remains one of the best compilations of the band's work.
All the usual Skynyrd favorites can be found here, as well as several often overlooked album tracks. Fans of classic rock radio will be long familiar with such Southern rock nuggets as "Sweet Home Alabama," the classic jam epic "Freebird," plus such rowdy rockers as "Saturday Night Special," "Gimme Back My Bullets," and "That Smell," as well as the more restrained "Simple Man" and "Tuesday's Gone." Down Home Music-For Heads only!! This is fantastic, the real album now CD of LS. Only, one must have that old time feeling with rock n roll, with a bit of soul. Yes, even back than soul was around everywhere and in everything strumming, singing, humming, etc.
FRIENDS THIS IS A CD WORTH EVERY SECOND OF YOUR MIND TO LISTEN TOO. TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE OVER 50 ! !!!!!! Submitted by tlane4691941 (La Mesa, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
The Best This is one of the greatest southern rock albums of all time. It portrays Lynyrd Skynyrd at their absolute best, and what can one say about the live "Freebird" on this album, it's one of THE most popular live songs ever recorded!
I'm curious why this site does not even list the second half of this delicious album...it's misleading and looks like they're just selling HALF of what's really there with Gold & Platinum, they should fix it. Great Anthology Of Lynyrd Skynyrd GOLD AND PLATINUM is a great anthology of Lynyrd Skynyrd. It contains many of their most well-known songs, including the live version of "Free Bird." However, it has one major flaw- it only contains one song from the landmark SECOND HELPING album, the 1974 Top 10 "Sweet Home Alabama." Nevertheless, it is still a must-own. Gold And Platinum
$19.79 Of all the bands to emerge from the early `90s grunge explosion, Pearl Jam was both the longest-lived and most consistently interesting. After several albums that found the group taking an increasingly experimental direction, the Seattle quintet returned to its straight-ahead hard rock roots with 2006's self-titled effort. In 2009 however, Pearl Jam surprised fans again with an album containing some of the unit's catchiest, poppiest songs ever. According to lead vocalist Eddie Vedder, most of the new material was written prior to recording, which was a significant departure from the group's usual in-studio jamming method of composition. The result is one of the unit's most focused and accessible works since the debut album TEN. The first single "The Fixer" (written my drummer Matt Cameron) is a Kiss-like bit of straight-up pop masquerading as hard rock, while "Just ...
