(1 Customer Review)
Touted as the greatest country singer ever, Hall Of Famer George Jones is in his prime on this album of duets and hits. Obviously having fun with every cut, Jones sings with rockers, classic country ladies and the cream of the contemporary crop.
Marty Stuart starts the album with a spirited, honky-tonk bang ("One Woman Man"), with Jones hitting some delicious, resonant deep notes. Dolly Parton harmonizes with Trisha Yearwood and Emmylou Harris in what, for her, is the latest of many great vocal trios, joining Jones in "Where The Grass Won't Grow."
A couple of Jones' early rockabilly hits are represented here--"Why Baby Why" with Ricky Skaggs on high harmonies, and "White Lightnin'" with Mark Knopfler adding white-hot guitar and strong harmonies. Ex-wife Tammy Wynette reunites with Jones to reprise their '70s hit "Golden Ring." Mark Chesnutt trades off eerily similar vocals with Jones on "Good Ones And Bad Ones." Not surprisingly, Rolling Stone Keith Richard can easily pass for a cowboy drowning in his beer on "Say It's Not You." Vince Gill, usually known for tender ballads, rocks out with Jones on "The Love Bug," while Alan Jackson slows it down with "A Good Year For The Roses."
After years of alcohol abuse, stormy marriages and health problems, Jones is currently in his prime, and with THE BRADLEY BARN SESSIONS his fans may celebrate forty years of legendary musicianship.

Spin (11/94, p.92) - Highly Recommended - "...Whatever his secret, Jones at 63 croons with a power that mocks his past of dependence and despair. And a new generation's respect for Tony Bennett and Johnny Cash probably induced MCA to hustle the Jones legend on THE BRADLEY BARN SESSIONS..." Entertainment Weekly (10/14/94, p.61) - "This album of Jones' hits, recast in all-star duets with the man himself, reaches nearly magical proportions....Jones is all hillbilly eloquence and fun..." - Rating: B+ Bradley Barn Sessions Music George Jones Bradley Barn Sessions Songs Bradley Barn Sessions Music Review Purchase Bradley Barn Sessions CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Faith Hill Faith CD (1998)

Bradley Barn Sessions music CDs
$14.35 Definitive collection of masters from the cult labels Strike and Go. Digitally remastered from original master tapes. Highly collectable singles compiled on one CD. Artists featured include Brit girls Jackie Bond and Samantha Juste, soul legends Carl Douglas and JJ Jackson, garage beat from Washington DC and the Drag Set, folk rock from Roy Harper and beat pop from Neil Christian and Miki Dallon. 75% of these recordings have never been reissued. 2001 release.
The Strike label, and its Go subsidiary, were one of the few pure indie rock and pop labels operating in England in the mid-1960s, issuing about three dozen singles in 1966 and 1967. Putting out a real grab bag of British Invasion groups, girl-group singers, soul vocalists, and even some folk-rock, psychedelia, and instrumental pop, the label only got one British hit, Neil Christian's "That's Nice" (included here). This CD contains a couple dozen of their more noteworthy tracks, ...
