Randy Edelman
Recorded at Sony Scoring Stage, Culver City, California and Rusk Sound Studios, Hollywood, California. Audio Mixer: Elton Farokh Ahi. Recording information: Rusk Sound Studios, Hollywood, CA; Sony Scoring Stage, Culver City, CA. Photographers: Ryan Nellis; Antonin Kratochvil. Dragonheart remains Randy Edelman's most memorable and fully realized film score, achieving a unique fusion of epic fantasy and light comedy that fully emphasizes the composer's strengths. Edelman's main theme, "World of the Heart," will be instantly familiar to anyone who's seen a movie trailer in the last decade of so -- a soaring melody that's equal parts grandeur and adventure, it's been recycled umpteen times over by films with none of the sword-and-sorcery elements of Dragonheart, but its all-purpose romanticism is undeniably potent. Between the widescreen themes that bookend the score, however, Edelman returns to the intimate character-driven themes that are his bread and butter, capturing an energy and whimsy that perfectly complement the onscreen action. ~ Jason Ankeny Dragonheart Soundtrack Music | List Price | $13.95 (You save $1.36) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Soundtrack CDs, Science Fiction | | Label | MCA | | Orig Year | 1996 | | All Time Sales Rank | 14893 | | CD Universe Part number | 1103908 | | Catalog number | 11449 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | May 28, 1996 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Randy Edelman | | Engineer | Dennis Sands; Elton Ahi | | Additional Info | Original Soundtrack |

Finest Music Ever Composed Dragonheart is by far and away the finest music ever composed. It's a one-in-a-million piece of work that will stay contemporary for many decades to come. Of all the music ever composed, in any format, this is the one I would want on that desert island. Pure genius. Submitted by a reviewer (California) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$5.95 NOTRE DAME DE PARIS is based on THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME by Victor Hugo. Music composed by Richard Cocciante. Lyics written by Luc Plamondon. English lyrics by Will Jennings. Principal casst: Celine Dion, Bruno Pelletier, Lick Mervil, Daniel Lavoie, Steve Balsamo, Tina Arena, Garou, Natasha St.-Pierre. Recorded at Studio Artistic Palace, Boulogne, France. Composer Richard Cocciante and lyricist Luc Plamondon's musical Notre-Dame de Paris, based on the 1831 Victor Hugo novel (usually translated into English as The Hunchback of Notre-Dame), was an enormous French hit, both onstage in Paris and in record stores, where the cast album topped the charts. American lyricist Will Jennings was brought in to create an English-language version, and this is the result. The original backing tracks have been retained, as has much of the French cast -- Garou as Quasimodo, Daniel Lavoie as Frollo, Luck Mervil as Clopin, and Bruno Pelletier as Gringoire -- though Australian pop star Tina Arena has been brought in as Esmeralda, Steve Balsamo sings the role of Phoebus, and Natasha St-Pierre is Fleur-de-Lys. The album begins with a pop recording of Esmeralda's final ballad, "Live for the One I Love," rendered by "guest star" Celine Dion. Hugo is a popular author for French musical theater writers, also having written Les Misérables, which was successfully adapted into a musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg. And Notre-Dame de Paris, though an early work (he published it before he was 30), has had a long life, having been adapted into several films, including a Disney-produced animated musical version in 1996. Set in the 15th century, it tells the tragic tale of the love several men feel for a gypsy (Esmeralda), a captain (Phoebus), the hunchbacked bell ringer of the Notre-Dame Cathedral (Quasimodo), and the cathedral's priest (Frollo). There is a temptation when adapting ...
