SOUTH SATURN DELTA includes 14 songs that were never before released on domestic CD, 10 of which were previously unavailable anywhere.
Recorded from July 9, 1967 to August 22, 1970. Includes liner notes by John McDermott.
Digitally remastered by Eddie Kramer and George Marino at Sterling Sound, New York, New York.
Although a slew of posthumous scrapings from the Hendrix catalog have cluttered the market in the past, SOUTH SATURN DELTA is a thoroughly researched collection that is anything but slap-dash. The detailed liner notes document the fascinating creative processes this virtuoso went through in his native element: the studio. Enlightening moments abound, such as an early instrumental version of "Little Wing" that has the basic rhythmic structure of "Angel," which is also represented as a demo entitled "Sweet Angel" featuring Hendrix on all instruments.
This disc also provides insight into the different musical roads Hendrix's muse led him down. John Lee Hooker and Lightnin' Hopkins's influences can be felt in Hendrix's solo take on "Midnight Lightning." The title track demonstrates an attempt to integrate horns into his sound, reflecting an unrealized desire to eventually head in more of a jazz direction.

Jimi Hendrix South Saturn Delta Songs South Saturn Delta Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) great Hendrix recordings. This album is a MUST HAVE for any Hendrix fans. It contains songs that were recorded and mixed by Jimmy for the planned fourth studio album. There
are also alterante versions of the classics Little Wing and All along the watchtower. There have been a lot of crummy recording that were put out after Hendrix did but this is not one of them . Submitted by JOHN.HASSALL (miami) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Just Awesome The best instrumental blues rock song ever is on this album! Midnight! Submitted by themanshan (Denver, CO) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Truly one of the greatest hidden treasures Jimi Hendrix released only three studio albums in his lifetime. On those three are a legacy of musical genius that grows and develops.
The tracks on this CD span his career. They are long buried treasures that should have turned up long ago. One listen and you'll see why.
Here He Comes (Lover Man) has to be the most ferocious, most blistering track that Hendrix ever put down on tape. This is NOT like the versions on the box set or in live performances you've heard. Pali Gap is an amazing jam that resulting from a rehearsal that broke down. It isn't planned, but... it's magic. A lilting demo of Angel that may surpass the version that was originally released. The powerful Look Over Yonder, the very bluesy Midnight Lignting, an alternate All Along The Watchtower. It just keeps coming.
If you're a fan of Jimi's music, DON'T miss out on this one. Submitted by Karl (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Get this one ! Wow! A peach. As well as some of his best known tracks (All along the Watchtower,Little Wing) this has some lesser-known gems on it,in particular "Pali Gap" which is one of Jimi's loveliest performances. I highly recommend this CD to any fans of - or newcomers to - the awesome talent of Jimi Hendrix. An excellent compilation. Submitted by Pete (Okayama, Japan) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$10.49 When the American expatriate James Marshall Hendrix made his triumphant return to the United States with ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?, he'd just smelted British pop psychedelia, R&B, Bob Dylan and Cream into a gleaming rock and roll alloy. Nothing quite looked or sounded like the musical ...
