Earl Grant was a multiple talent: a great singer, a swinging organist whose mastery of the Hammond B-3 was a thrill to listen to, and a songwriter who could come up with material as solid as the standards he regularly recorded for Decca in his all-too-short career. This 21-track collection brings together the cream of his stay at Decca, featuring hits like "The End," "Ebb Tide," "Misty," "Teach Me Tonight," and his own "Swingin' Gently," with the bonus track of "The End" sung in Italian thrown in to round out the package. A great song selection and superb mastering make this a marvelous introduction to this pop-jazz artist. ~ Cub Koda

Best Of Earl Grant : Singin' And Swingin' Songs Best Of Earl Grant : Singin' And Swingin' Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Nice collection of music I originally bought this CD for "The End". However, I enjoyed most of the music on it. It's a nice collection of slow and upbeat songs. Submitted by martin1945 (Mansfield, MA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
CD Review I wanted to obtain copies of the tracks "Swingin' Gently" and "The End".
The CD is excellent! Submitted by Ray (Orchard Park, New York, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Love that old Music. This CD captures some of the old style organ and vocal music that you don't hear on the radio anymore. It is a good sampling of Earl Grant's music, but does't contain all of his hits. Submitted by milorh (Arlington WA USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Take it for granted If ever there was a one hit wonder, it was Earl Grant. His version of 'The End' is far superior to the one by Gene McDaniels.
What a pity that Grant, with his Nat King Cole impersonation, did not do more of the same.
I think you'd have to archive the other titles on this album under 'quaint lounge' - even the rare Italian version of 'The End' at the end. Submitted by syralex2003 (Sydney, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$13.49 Here's a real grab bag of Top 40 hits from 1960 to 1966, some of them indeed very hard to find on CD or even hear on the radio. Some of them are not really not that hard to find on CD, though this disc (like every one in this series) takes pains to present original 45 RPM single versions, often in stereo. It leans toward the innocuous pop side of pop/rock, though within that framework there's a lot of variety and a good amount of quality: slightly soul-influenced pop (Gene McDaniels' "A Hundred Pounds of Clay"), poppy, late doo wop (the Velvets' "Tonight [Could Be the Night]," the Chimes' "Once in a While"), British Invasion pop (Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas' "Bad to Me," the Honeycombs' "Have I the Right," the Seekers' "I'll Never Find Another You," Cilla Black's "You're My World"), celebrity teen ...
