Additional personnel includes: George Clinton, Kid Rock, Lil' Kim, The Crystal Method, Snoop Dogg, Fred Durst, Mixmaster Mike.
Former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee's new musical masterpiece, METHODS OF MAYHEM, is the product of his collaboration with rapper TiLo. Sparked by pent-up frustration as a result of jail stints, run-ins with the law, and tabloid reporters, Lee pulled together numerous stars from the worlds of rock & roll and and hip-hop.
Joining Lee and TiLo are Kid Rock ("New Skin"), Snoop Dogg ("Who the Hell Cares"), and Scott Kirkland of Crystal Method ("Spun," "Narcotic"). Though one might mistake METHODS OF MAYHEM for a short-lived side project, it is clear from the intensity that Lee, TiLo, and others bring to the proceedings that the project is anything but. One of the album's strongest tracks is "Get Naked," which features Lil' Kim, George Clinton, Mixmaster Mike, and Fred Durst.

This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.Entertainment Weekly (1/7/00, p.68) - "...Most of this rap-metal is suprisingly legit - and cameos by Lil' Kim, Fred Durst, and Kid Rock don't hurt..." - Rating: B- Q (4/00, p.96) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...big, thumping, sweary, contemporary noise. Lee is entirely serious; he has the group's name tattooed on his arse cheeks..." Alternative Press (3/00, p.86) - 4 out of 5 - "...armed to the teeth with special guests, hopping between metal-edged techno and radio-minded hard rock. The surprise: It ain't bad, and a few of these tunes are 'really good'..." CMJ (12/27/99, p.5) - "...brass-knuckled, rhythmically dense, rap-rock....owing more to pop-industrial music and Bomb Squad production than it does to Fred Durst....one of 1999's grittiest, most heartfelt rap-rock albums..." Vibe (2/00, p.160) - "...combines heavy guitar riffs with insolent B-boy wordplay....As an exercise in funky head-banging, MAYHEM isn't half bad....producer, Scott Humphrey manages to mix up [Tommy] Lee's limited palette just enough to keep you tuned in..." NME (Magazine) (2/14/00, p.41) - 6 out of 10 - "...contains more than enough of the mysterious kick-ass factor....successfully [mixing] hip-hop beats with some exceedingly heavy guitar riffing..." Methods Of Mayhem Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews highly recommened great album from a great musician. These songs really kick-ass! A must-have album. Submitted by myra-and-joey (Ontario,Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Sold-out? Hardly Some tell me that Tommy Lee sold out now that he's rapping white style like a thug. People tell me that they can't believe the genius that inspired them to begin drumming has fallen victim to a fad. Well, I tell these doubters that he never sold out. I believe Tommy Lee's venture into this new genre shows his true talent. The ability to completely change genres from the "white" heavy, hair metal band baggage to the black heavy metal rapcore (and completely refine it) is remarkable. By the way, the album's good too. Buy it just for "Crash" and "Get Naked." I suggest you buy this CD if you like rap; or if you just like hard rock, get Tommy Lee's solo release "Never A Dull Moment." His solo CD in my opinion is better but this is still bangin'. Submitted by Brock (Danville, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Notorious B I G Life After Death CDs (1997)
Methods Of Mayhem
$18.65 LIFE AFTER DEATH was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "Hypnotize" was nominated for a 1988 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. "Mo Money Mo Problems" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
The double-CD LIFE AFTER DEATH arrives in stores, ironically and tragically, less than three weeks after the Notorious B.I.G. was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. Biggie Smalls, as he was known, quickly became one of rap's most respected MCs after the 1994 release of his debut album, READY TO DIE. His music sparked the comeback of East Coast hip-hop, while his very being added fire to rap's over-publicized East-West rivalry. For some (see "Playa Hater"), Biggie's success was too much to handle, and he became a primary target in hip-hop's continuing feud. Never feeding into that war on wax, B.I.G. chose to remain silent, until LIFE AFTER DEATH became a reality, and the situation spoke for itself.
Although song titles like "You're Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You)" eerily mirror the real-life tragedy, the music on LIFE AFTER DEATH serves to bring the Notorious B.I.G. back to life. As anything that he appeared on, the production (by a superstar conglomerate including Sean "Puffy" Combs and ...
