| | Avant My Thoughts CD Avant Discography of CDs
(11 Customer Reviews)
This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
The first artist signed to Magic Johnson's label deal with MCA Records, MY THOUGHTS is also Avant's debut album. "Separated" is an energetic, passionate song about a love gone wrong which is pretty much the album's theme, rooted in the ups and downs of love, and Avant uses his dynamic voice to clearly rise above these perfectly positioned tracks.
Produced by Steve "Stone" Huff, the album is rare in today's R&B scene, in that Huff is the sole producer. This means there's a refreshing consistency to all the tracks. Besides lacing the songs with his silky vocal delivery, Avant also co-writes ten of the cuts here. Some of the highlights of MY THOUGHTS are "Reaction," "Let's Make a Deal," and "Serious." Overall, a very well-rounded and polished sounding debut.
Recorded at Streeterville, Batcave, Battery Studio and Chicago Recording Company, Chicago, Illinois.
Personnel includes: Avant (vocals); Steve Huff (various instruments, bass, programming); Charles "Al" Willis (guitar); Ketara Wyatt (background vocals).
Engineers include: Rob, Steve "Stone" Huff, Larry Strum.

| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
My Thoughts
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood ...
| | Avant Ecstasy CD (2002)
My Thoughts
$11.99 On ECSTACY, Myron Avant, the Cleveland native who was also the first artist signed to Magic Johnson's MJM record label, sings satin sheet-smooth R&B with sexy self-assurance. It's tinged with an irresistible pleading tone which he uses time and again to devastating effect on cuts such as the smoky, after-hours ...

| | Very Best Of Shirley Murdock CD (2001)
My Thoughts
$9.25 Rhino/Elektra Tradition's The Very Best of Shirley Murdock is an excellent 16-track retrospective of her recordings for Elektra in the late '80s. This contains seven of the nine songs on her eponymous debut (or eight of 13, if you count the remixes on the record, one of which is here [the "midnight mix" of "As We Lay"]), three songs from her second album, A Woman's Point ...

| | Electric Wizard CD (1994) (Import) Import; Digipak; Japan
My Thoughts
$18.39 This debut release from U.K. death metal band Electric Wizard includes the songs "Stone Magnet" and "Morning Prayer."
Eternal, Thy Grief Eternal, and Lord of Putrefaction: D&D characters? Possibly. But they're better known as the bands that preceded and eventually morphed into Electric Wizard, the ensemble that dominated if not out-and-out created the "stoner metal" genre. This compilation gathers some of the best tracks from these two bands, and the extreme, bass-heavy sound; fuzzed-out guitars; and Alastair Crowley-cum-Led Zep lyrics provide apt foreshadowing for what was to come. The is music for Black Masses and dark maguses.
