| | Cher Half Breed CD Cher Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Cher's 1973 album Half Breed was her third for MCA and features the title track which shot to the top of the American charts. It is perhaps the only song here which would turn up on a greatest-hits collection, but there are plenty of other melodic, hippie-era tunes which are tailor-made for nights around the campfire. Melancholy and bittersweet from start to finish, there are enough charms to keep it lighthearted: the jingling rhythm of "Half Breed" and "Carousel Man" hit the right marks at the right time. Rock singers have often tributed a song to one of their children; Cher turns "Ruby Jean et Billie Lee" into "Chastity's Sun," and thankfully it is heartfelt enough that listeners don't care where it was borrowed from. She also covers Paul and Linda McCartney's "My Love," which had been a hit for him that same year, and the Beatles' "Long and Winding Road." ~ Peter Fawthrop Purchase Half Breed CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Kylie Minogue Fever CD (2002) (Import) Bonus Tracks; Japan
Half Breed album
$39.49 The 2002 enhanced Japan-only version features four additional tracks and two videos.
It's more than just journalistic shorthand to refer to Kylie Minogue as the European Madonna. She's been at it as long as the Material Girl, and her mix of sexy style and dance-pop sound is very much in league with that of her American counterpart. The catch here is that, while ...
| | Leann Rimes Twisted Angel CD (2002)
Half Breed CD music
$6.29 TWISTED ANGEL shows just how far the newly adult vocalist has come from her teenage-prodigy beginnings. For one thing, she seems determined to leave her country roots far behind. Though she started down the pop route as early as 1997's YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE, TWISTED ANGEL is completely devoid of any country inflection whatsoever, focusing instead (as have a couple of Rimes's previous efforts, to varying degrees) on modern, often even danceable, pop. Rimes may be closer to Britney Spears than to Kitty Wells these days, but she seems to be expressing more of her inner self. It's surely no coincidence that three of the four songs on which she gets co-writing credit utilize the imagery of the angel with dirty wings, the child star with tears behind the smile. Lyrically, Rimes is clearly exploring the conflicts and contradictions that her childhood fame brought her, which may or may not take ...

| | Keith Richards Main Offender CD (1992)
Half Breed CD music
$9.79 For his second solo album, Keith Richards didn't mess too much with the formula that made his first outing (and all the "Keith songs" on Stones albums through the years) so great: smoldering, mid-tempo rockers with plenty of sloppy leads, simple rock melodies, and dabs of dub reggae ...
| | Blackfoot Strikes CD (1979)
Half Breed music CDs
$5.99 With the tragic death of several Lynyrd Skynyrd members in 1977 and the band's prompt breakup, there was a huge hole left in the Southern rock genre. Though several bands were hailed as inheritors to the throne, Blackfoot was one ...
| | U K Subs Brand New Age CD (1980) (Import) Canada
Half Breed songs
$17.09 For their second album, Brand New Age, the U.K. Subs built on the frenzied, melodic assault of their debut by developing their songwriting skills. Brand New Age contains tracks that are more ambitious than those on the debut, with more variety and lyrical depth. Rather than the amusing teen angst rants of the debut, this album shows the Subs embracing a more political point of view. "Warhead" is a seething diatribe on nuclear war, delivered with the venom and ferocity such a topic deserves. ...
| | Luther Wright & The Wrongs Rebuild The Wall CD (2001)
Half Breed album
$13.45 REBUILD THE WALL is a bluegrass re-working of Pink Floyd's THE WALL.
Additional personnel includes: Sarah Harmer (vocals); Carolyn Mark (spoken vocals); Matt Woodward (electric guitar); Jason Mercer (banjo, fiddle);
Julie Penner (fiddle); Spencer Evans (clarinet); Chris Brown (piano);
For their third release, Luther Wright and the Wrongs attempt a track-by-track re-imagining of one of the most recognizable prog rock artifacts of the late 20th century -- Pink Floyd's The Wall -- as a country/bluegrass album. This peculiar set of circumstances will be enough to make most Pink Floyd purists protest the audacity of this little band from Kingston, Ontario. While Rebuild the Wall, Pt 1 has some of the markings of a marketing scheme cooked up in a boardroom somewhere, music fans with more open (and less cynical) minds may well find that this prog-bluegrass fusion works better than it should. After all, the themes of madness, violence, hard living, and heartache are not exactly new to the country arena. As is the case with most cover versions, the songs that work best here are those that end up sounding the least like the Pink Floyd originals. "One of My Turns" sounds like it could be a long-lost country gem, while "Young Lust" becomes a Gram Parsons style rocker. ...
