| | Paul McCartney Run Devil Run CD (1999)
Paul Mccartney - Working Classical / Foster, Quinn, Et Al
$13.69 After decades spent making lush, carefully crafted pop records, Paul McCartney makes a joyous return to his roots with RUN DEVIL RUN. On this album, McCartney returns to the music that first inspired him to become a musician--early rock & roll, rockabilly, and R&B. Much as Bob Dylan journeyed back to his folk roots and invested them with new resonance on WORLD GONE WRONG, McCartney attacks the material here with freshness and vitality.
The opener, Gene Vincent's "Blue Jean Bop," is a perfect recreation of the vintage '50s rockabilly sound. The rest of McCartney's covers, including Carl Perkins' "Movie Magg" and Johnny Burnette's "Honey Hush" sidestep nostalgia in favor of the kind of raw, unfettered approach that made rock & roll exciting to begin with. A couple of McCartney originals, including the title tune, mine a similar late-'50s lode to fine effect. Despite the presence of ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Paul Mccartney - Working Classical / Foster, Quinn, Et Al
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer ...

Paul Mccartney - Working Classical / Foster, Quinn, Et Al
$16.05 COME AWAY WITH ME won the 2003 Grammy Awards for Album Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical).
"Don't Know Why" won the 2003 Grammy Awards for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Arif Mardin won the 2003 Grammy Award for Producer Of The Year (Non-Classical).
This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
A direct descendant from the pedigree of one of the 20th century's virtuosos, Norah Jones might not be on such a lofty artistic level as her dad Ravi Shankar, but certainly inherited some musical intuition from him. With nary a sitar nor raga within earshot, the young newcomer sounds very much an assimilated, western, 21st century pop-jazz singer. One thing that separates her from the pack is Ms. Jones' own piano stylings--not flashy, but deftly doubling or echoing her voice--that discreetly act as the glue holding together these airy, delicate, and beautiful arrangements.
But the centerpiece is certainly the 22-year-old's confident-beyond-her-years ...
| | Dredg Catch Without Arms CD (2005)
Paul Mccartney - Working Classical / Foster, Quinn, Et Al
$8.49 Early on, critics often described Dredg as a metal group. However, the quartet has since matured into a hard-edged indie-rock ensemble that seeks diversity and refinement in its music. On CATCH WITHOUT ARMS, the band favors highly orchestrated parts, dense guitar ...

$13.99 | | S' Wonderful: The Music Of George Gershwin CD (1992)
Paul Mccartney - Working Classical / Foster, Quinn, Et Al
$15.55 Released in 1992, Pearl Flapper's S' Wonderful: The Music of George Gershwin is similar to this label's Rodgers & Hart collection; the two albums were issued concurrently. What's different about the Gershwin package is the predominance of one artist -- Fred Astaire -- who is heard in seven different performances, and the inclusion of one definitive jazz instrumental: "I Got Rhythm" as performed by Afro-American drummer and bandleader Chick Webb with a small group billed as his Little Chicks. Given the enormously important role that "I Got Rhythm" played in the development of jazz during the 1930s (a vast number of "original" swing tunes were based upon this melody's chord progressions), Webb's spirited rendition assumes enormous importance and relevance here. Still and all, this is mainly a pop vocal retrospective that focuses upon stars of stage and screen. ...
