 The Beauty of a true Tenor
One need only hear Fritz Wunderlich once to become "hooked" on his sound, versatility and diction. His Lieder and Arias are sung without histrionics or strain even in the upper reaches of the music. This particular CD covers much of the same music of his earlier releases but adds more rarely heard operatic roles wherein he is able to demonstrate his range of emotion from unrequited love to clownish humor. A great singer and a great CD.

 Wondrous Wunderlich
This is one of the best compilations of Fritz Wunderlich I have heard. His recordings are always of extremely high quality technically, and in this collection, they show off his wonderful voice and stellar talen to their best. You can't help wondering what heights this man might have reached had he not died so tragically and so senselessly and so young!

 Der wunderbare Wunderlich
I am absolutely delighted with this 3-CD set. He is indeed one of the great German tenors. He may perhaps not be as impassioned as Rudolf Schock in his singing, but his tone is always well controlled and right on the button. This collection is for keeps. The EMI recording is very good throughout.

 Wunderlich is wunderbar........
For several years I have kept putting off to purchase this box set. What a mistake! All opera and opretta arias are sung in German.....and Wunderlich gives the language wonder and beauty. Over 3 and 1/2 hours of great tenor singing with the feeling for style, good taste, and fine expressivo. Never have I heard such gusto......as if his heart was in every note. Some of the arias are very identifiable; and if you enjoy melodic music, the unfamiliar arias will give you notice that Fritz Wunderlich's golden voice will always leave you wanting more. This tenor is truly captivating. He is well known for his trademark role of Tamino in Mozart's "The Magic Flute".This box set is worth the time to experience true "magic". Highly recommended.
