| | Idiote Je T'Aime CD Charles Aznavour Discography of CDs
Throughout his long, prolific career, Charles Aznavour has worked in a variety of musical styles, from traditional French chanson to small-combo jazz to easy listening pop to a few rather odd side trips into the distinctively Gallic form of '60s beat music known as ye-ye. Yet 1995's IDIOTE JE T'AIME--yes, that translates to "I love you, Idiot"--showcases Aznavour in the style for which his perhaps best known and most beloved by his fans, backed by a full yet never overbearing orchestra (think Petula Clark, not Nelson Riddle-era Frank Sinatra.)
With songs--all self-penned--spanning nearly all of Aznavour's illustrious career, IDIOTE JE T'AIME is not unlike a greatest hits, only with all new recordings and often radical re-arrangements. The results are both an excellent starting point for newcomers and a delightful work for longtime fans.
Personnel: Charles Aznavour (vocals).
Photographers: Andre Gornet; Herman Leonard.

Idiote Je T'Aime album
$15.99 Andrea Bocelli was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is one of those rare artists who is equally comfortable on both sides of the pop/classical fence. Discovered by Italian pop sensation Zucchero, Bocelli, whose blindness is no hindrance to his musical insight, has made an international splash in both the pop and opera worlds. He's worked with Luciano Pavarotti and Bryan Adams with equal ease, and his all-encompassing musical prowess can be easily heard on ROMANZA. The album weaves his strong, expressive, classically-trained voice through some elegant contemporary material. Many songs have a political ...

Idiote Je T'Aime CD music
$17.45 Although Charles Aznavour is considered by many American fans to be France's Neil Diamond, thanks to a rather misguided attempt by Reprise Records to cast him as a Middle-of-the-Road crooner in the '60s, in his native France he's a national treasure on par with Sinatra or Elvis. HIER ENCORE, an 18-track compilation of his classic French recordings--none of those Reprise-era English remakes--is a perfect introduction not only to Aznavour, ...

| | Brigitte Bardot Best Of BB CD (1996) France
Idiote Je T'Aime songs
$10.49 This compilation includes 20 of the sultry songs by France's ultimate sexpot: Brigitte Bardot.
After scaling the heights of international fame as a '50s movie pinup, Brigitte Bardot marked the shifting terrain of the '60s with a plunge into the music world. Like many French singers of the time, she updated the jazz-inspired chanson tradition of Trenet and Piaf with a healthy dose of pop and rock & roll. This 20-track sampler covers the period from her eponymous 1962 debut to the early '70s and such last hurrahs as her cover of Stevie Wonder's "You Are the Sunshine of My Life." A superbly selected mix, Best of BB hits all the heights, including early beat-style numbers like "L'Appareil a Sous" and "Je Danse Donc Je Suis" and several Serge Gainsbourg collaborations (their infamous duet, "Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus," being one of them). Other Bardot-Gainsbourg ...
