The album features "Il Mio Cuore Va," Titanic's "My Heart Will Go On" sung in Italian; "Scene d'Amour," the theme from The English Patient; and "Nessun Dorma" from Puccini's Turandot. Brightman's pop side emerges with tracks like "Dust in the Wind" and the Richard Marx-written and -produced "The Last Words You Said." Eden's wide range and Brightman's beautiful voice are a winning combination. ~ Heather Phares With EDEN, Broadway diva Sarah Brightman ("Requiem," "Cats") stretches beyond the constraints of what's considered show music. Here, she sings an assortment of classical adaptations, rock, and sleek modern pop songs. The entrancing opener, "In Paradisum" combines pre-recorded nature sounds, atmospheric textures, and echoes of Gregorian chant, setting the regal and eclectic mood. "Nella Fantasia" is an adaptation of a tune by movie soundtrack composer Ennio Morricone, with Italian lyrics by Ferrau, and here the exquisite longing in Brightman's voice transcends all language barriers. She transforms Kansas' philosophical hit "Dust in the Wind" into a theatrical ballad that transcends time or setting. The production is lavish, judiciously mixing lustrous, gently throbbing modern pop textures, and conventional orchestration in a way that showcases the songs and the singer without being obtrusive or maudlin.

Want a Ticket To Eden? This is it ! This CD will make you think YOU are in paradise. Sarah's voice is lovely and perfect for this blend of beautiful melodies. She takes you on a fantastic journey to another place where even music written for a tenor, such as "Nessun Dorma", sounds perfect when done by her. "Only an Ocean Away" and "The Last Words You Said" are wonderful.
When the music is over you will want more. Submitted by captdennis (Charleston, SC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
spiritual this alblum was spiritualy brought to my attention one Sunday morniing. First time I turned the radio on in months, Heard Sara sing nassu Domma, Which turned on the energy in me to find out who was singing and what that song's title was, Was told by the radio station the next day(Monday) by the disc jockey - Vince Campo- that it was on the Eden cd, Went down that day and bought it , have been listening to it everyday now for two months, everytime I hear it , it brings tears to my eyes. Hearing the songs pulls me towards a lost loved one who passed a short time ago. I feel him so near when I hear the songs she sings. It has been a great hearing and cleansing for me. Thank you all who are responsible for this great album. Submitted by jeanlynn60 (Lisbon, Oh. usa.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Original score composed by R.E.M. "The Great Beyond" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. Personnel: Liane Reynolds-Mautner (violin). Audio Mixers: Clif Norrell; Paul Falcone; Joel Moss ; John Richards; Patrick McCarthy; Scott Litt; Jamie Candiloro. Photographer: François Duhamel. Arrangers: Bob James; Charlie Brissette. It could be argued that without REM's hit single "Man on the Moon" there wouldn't have been an Andy Kaufman biopic in 1999, so it was only appropriate that director Milos Forman hired the band to write the score for his film. Based on score excerpts on the Man on the Moon soundtrack, they've made some intriguing music, drawing heavily from the spirit and textures of Automatic ...

$11.45 Personnel: Sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli, Jose Cura (vocals); Paul Bateman (conductor); London Symphony Orchestra. Recorded at EMI Abbey Road Studio No. 1, Angel Studio No. 1 and Nemo Studios in London, England, and Alexander Digital Suite in Miami, Florida. Sarah Brightman, who enjoyed a European hit with "Time to Say Goodbye," her duet with Andrea Bocelli, constructed an album beginning with that recording and continuing in kind. The characteristics of the hit -- a lush, melodramatic, mock-operatic arrangement complete with a crescendo out of Ravel's "Bolero" and soaring voices singing in English and Italian -- are repeated here, whether the material is drawn from Puccini, the Gipsy Kings, or Queen. ~ William Ruhlmann In the pop music world of the 1950s and 1960s, when you scored ...
