| | George Thorogood Live CD George Thorogood Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
George Thorogood & The Destroyers: George Thorogood (vocals, guitar); Bill Blough (vocals, bass); Steve Chrismar (guitar); Hank Carter (saxophones, percussion); Jeff Simon (drums); H-Bomb Ferguson (maracas).
George Thorogood was always better as a live performer than as a studio act. This concert set, recorded in Cinncinatti in 1986, captures his newly expanded Destroyers, their sound beefed up with the addition of a second guitarist and (a la Bo Diddley) a maracas player. As usual, the band's great, ungodly racket owes as much to '60s garage rock and punk as it does to Muddy Waters.
Thorogood, who sounds like he's having a great time, blowtorches his way through familiar songs by Elmore James, Chuck Berry, and the aforementioned Diddley. He also resurrects the Hollywood Argyles' early '60s novelty "Alley Oop" and turns in a hilariously melodramatic performance of his ode to alcoholic solipsism, "I Drink Alone."
Recorded at The Cincinnati Gardens, Cincinnati, Ohio on May 23, 1986.
Personnel: George Thorogood (vocals, slide guitar); Billy Blough (vocals); Steve Chrismar (guitar); Hank Carter (saxophone, percussion); H-Bomb Ferguson (marimba, maracas); Jeff Simon (drums).
Recording information: Cincinnati Gardens, OH.
Photographer: Jeffrey Scales. George Thorogood Live Songs Live Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) George Thorogood RAWKS!! As usual George Rawks the house. His live versions of "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" and "Bad to the Bone" are wonderful!! Submitted by justad_2 (Wichita, KS) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
George Thorogood & His Destroyers Rulez! This is a highoctane rockblues-album that takes it to the top! It beginns with the famous Bo Didley cover "Who Do You Love" and accelerates with "Bottom of the Sea" and then the peak comes with the 2 son of a gun songs: "Night Time" and the one and only "I Drink ALone". God damn it, this is some killer songs themself, but then comes up the song that even Mr Bob Dylan loves, a classic cover on Mr John Lee Hooker: One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer... Is there a better verison around of a drinking song? I don`t think so! Get a copy of this album, a killer one, one of the top 5 live albums ever made! George Thorogood may now have his soul more close to the rock than the old blues from the 70:s, but it is called how to evolve, this album is for Mr George Thorogood what the Evo ment for Harley-Davidson! It spells evolution! Get this album and your party will take it to the max limit, sky high! This live album shows that Mr George Thorogood is a honest artist with one foot in the Blues and one foot into Rock! 5 out of 5!!! Submitted by John (John, Texas, US) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Live album
$6.59 Most of the songs on SUPERSEXY SWINGIN' SOUNDS are the same songs that first appeared on ASTRO-CREEP 2000, remixed by Charlie Clouser, John Fryer, The Dust Brothers, Mike "Hitman" Wilson, P.M. Dawn and The Damage Twins.
Additional personnel includes: Machine, Brian Tucker (programming); Dave Rockin' Duke.
These remixes of songs from ASTRO-CREEP: 2000 lend a new, ultra-cool ambience to White Zombie's hard-hitting trash-pop songs. Among those doing the remixing are the Dust Brothers and P.M. Dawn. Their remixes give some of these songs an intergalactic feel, with ambient electronic layers and deep techno beats. On other tracks, drum loops, samples and scratches are injected, resulting in a swank hip-hop groove. But even with ...
| | Nelly Da Derrty Versions: The Reinvention CD (2003)
Live CD music
$12.59 While remix albums of all shades were in vogue during 2003, Nelly truly seems to be having fun on DA DERRTY VERSIONS, his addition to the genre. This release is unique in that the remixes are generally by the original producer. Also, the title is a bit of a misnomer, as it implies more stripped-down or crunked-out versions, which are not really what this record is about. However, that's not a bad thing; DA DERRTY VERSIONS is a consistently entertaining record featuring many clever twists, unforgettable guest shots, and one ultra-catchy, all-new track "Iz U."
By far, the most ear-catching moment is the peculiarly inspired reworking of the smash "Ride wit Me" which begins a cappella before a jangly guitar kicks in and reimagines the rap to the tune of John Mayer's "No Such Thing." Nelly's first hit, "Country Grammar," is redone more traditionally as E-40 drops by to add some new verses to complement the slightly tweaked familiar chorus. Hits like the St. Lunatics "Batter Up" and the summer jam "Hot in Herre" are given small but welcome alterations and remain as engaging as ever. The whole album is threaded together by the affable Nelly as the interviewee/tour guide, offering insight into the making of the record itself.

| | Fiddle Fire: 25 Years Of The Charlie Daniels Band CD (1998)
Live music CDs
$10.15 Charlie Daniels displays his exceptional fiddle playing in this compilation of his best fiddle songs. From the obvious inclusions like "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" and "The South's Gonna Do It Again," to lesser-known romps like "Texas" and "Talk to Me Fiddle," there isn't a bad track on the disc. Daniels delivers perhaps the definitive version of the country-bluegrass "Orange Blossom Special," and downright rocks the log cabin with "Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye." An excellent collection of Tennessee mountain-inspired ...

| | Etta James: At Last ! CD (1961) Remastered
Live album
$8.09 Originally released on Argo (4003). Includes liner notes by Andy McKaie.
Digitally remastered by Erick Labson (MCA Music Media Studios, North Hollywood, California).
When Etta James signed with Chess Records in 1960, the label decided to pair her raw, bluesy singing with a full backing band and lush orchestrations. AT LAST!, her Chess debut, shows the formula working to fine effect, as it highlights the singer's facility with different approaches including torchy balladry, jazz crooning, growling blues, and R&B shouting. She sounds equally at home on Willie Dixon stompers ("I Just Want To Make Love To You"), standards ("Stormy Weather"), and down-tempo soul workouts (the beautiful title track).
James performs several duets with Moonglows vocalist (and then-boyfriend) Harvey ...
| | Gary Moore Bad For You Baby CD (2008)
Live CD music
$11.19 Another year, another Gary Moore blues-rock album nearly interchangeable with the last. That's no problem for fans or even newcomers, because despite the surface similarities between releases, Moore never seems to be going through the motions for the sake of further bulking up his already substantial catalog. His tough guitar lines remain biting yet classy, and his underappreciated voice is strong and convincing on originals and covers that nail all of the blues-rock bases without sounding rote. While there are no surprises here, Bad for You Baby is far from a disappointment. Moore continues a string of rugged, post-hard rock, power blues that he has carved his niche in since 1990's Still Got the Blues. He applies his throaty vocals and feral guitar to a pair of Muddy Waters tunes to impressive effect. No one will mistake his versions of Waters' "Walking Through the Park" or "Someday Baby" for the classic Chess era nuggets they are. Yet Moore's rocked up attack hits the mark for being ...

| | Fleetwood Mac Mystery To Me CD (1973)
Live CD music
$9.65 Released in 1973 and now regarded as an important transitional album in Fleetwood Mac's long march towards superstardom, MYSTERY TO ME featured the lineup of Mick Fleetwood, John and Christine McVie, singer/guitarist Bob Welch and guitarist Bob Weston. The hiring of Welch had angered original guitarist Danny Kirwan and after a 1972 gig, the volatile Kirwan went berserk backstage and was fired. On MYSTERY TO ME, the follow-up to PENGUIN (1973) and the band's strongest album in years, the luminous elements of the future Fleetwood Mac were falling in place; Bob Welch's rambling, mystical reverie "Hypnotized" became (and remains to this day) a rock radio standard.
The Welch-Weston-John McVie-penned "Forever" grooves with an atypical African gloss, and ...

Live music CDs
$14.19 Devil's Slingshot are truly a supergroup, featuring renowned instrumentalists Tony MacAlpine (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass), and Virgil Donati (drums). MacAlpine made his name in the '80s as a neo-classical shredder. In recent years, he's explored jazz fusion, particularly in Planet X alongside Donati. Sheehan's cameo on Planet X's MoonBabies probably helped spawn this trio. For all its firepower, it's surprisingly restrained. Most songs feature a perfunctory rock intro that leads to more limber fusion workouts. The rock riffs are heavy and bland, but the fusion parts are tasty. MacAlpine soars up and down the fretboard with ease, evoking a less flashy Steve Vai. ...
