| | Jan & Dean All The Hits-From Surf City To Drag City CD Jan & Dean Discography of CDs
(7 Customer Reviews)
Digitally remastered by Kevin Reeves (April 1996, Capitol Recording Studios, Hollywood, California).
Jan & Dean are the quintessential Californian pop duo of the early 1960s; versed in surfing and hot-rod culture, they created music that provided a soundtrack for summertime fun. ALL THE HITS - FROM SURF CITY TO DRAG CITY lives up to its name, including Jan & Dean's numerous charting singles, as well as some rare outtakes and radio spots. These songs are breezy, lightweight, and well produced, and provide a nice setting for studio professionals such as Hal Blaine and Glen Campbell to work their magic. The sonic complexity of Jan Berry's productions was a serious influence on the young Brian Wilson, and one can easily follow the progression of '60s rock from "Dead Man's Curve" to the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations." As such, Jan & Dean are more influential than many people realize, and one can only wonder of what might have been had Berry not gotten involved in a near-fatal auto accident that ended the group's career in 1966.

| Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Verry Cherry, Torrance and Berry There are no word spactacular enough to help me discribe what a treasure this 2-disc collection is.
All of my favorites, and some treasures that I had never heard before.
I wasn't around when these beach babes started out, so imagine what an experience it was to hear "Baby Talk" for the first time, that has to be one of my new favorites!
There are so many extras in this collection, it's amazing! Previously unreleased songs, and radio spots...and instrumental recordings of some of my favorite songs.
This CD is one of my new prized posessions. There is not a day that goes by that I don't listen to at least a couple of songs on the CD. I highly recomend this collection, you will not regret it...so as the Jan and Dean song "Side Walk Surfin'" says..."grab you board, and go side walk surfin' with me" Enjoy!
