Hey kids,guys and dolls everywhere!
I Have heard thi smusic sound track when it was still cool to listen to LPs. Please don't fathom this.
You don't have to WATCH this movie or read the "orginal play" vs. your "old english" world lit book to know. The Key actors/players in this movie are (while very young) GET the feel of this best written love in verse ever to hit out upon old plain vanilla text book sheets. I fell that the orginal LP version that the dialoge was "tuned" to the music not the other way around. I LOVE the works of Great William S. , and I will not fault this shorter Italian version one i-oda, I am thrilled that the actors caught the essential emotion that seems so well wraped
in the music (i feel) carefully made. I LOVED this sound track too much. Always have, and will!

 Disappointed after all these years
I was really interested in having the soundtrack to this movie. Unfortunately about one-tenth of the CD is the music and the rest is dialogue. If you are a big Shakespeare fan, that's okay because you do get the "gist" of the movie on the CD. But who doesn't get the gist of the movie?

The Shangri-Las were the quintessential girl group and MYRMIDONS OF MELODRAMA is the quintessential Shangri-Las collection. This 33-track set contains all of the trio's key songs-- including "Out in the Streets," "Train from Kansas City," Give Him a Great Big Kiss," and, of course, that ode to bad boys and the women who love them, "Leader of the Pack"--as well as classic radio spots and even dating tips from lead singer Mary Weiss. While the disc is certainly a showcase for Weiss's gorgeous, haunting lilt, it's also a fitting tribute to Shadow Morton, one of the most overlooked producers of the 1960s. Morton took teenage melancholy and created its sonic equivalent, making everything sound like it was recorded with the lights out so no one could see the tears. More than simply a pop confection, the Shangri-Las, in retrospect, embody a long-lost zeitgeist: these are the misunderstood bad girls who smoked in the bathroom, and the songs are their stories. Heartache and loneliness have never, ever sounded this cool.
Until the release of this import, there had never been a truly satisfactory Shangri-Las anthology; in fact, the group had been subject to worse piecemeal mangling than almost any other significant act of the 1960s. This 33-track production finally sets the record straight, including all of the significant A-sides, B-sides, and album tracks they recorded for Red Bird between 1964 and 1966, as well as an earlier single for a different label, and four radio commercials. Includes every one of their hits, but anyone who likes those will be enchanted by quite a few of their more obscure numbers here: "Dressed in Black," "Paradise," "It's Easier to Cry," "Never Again," and "Heaven Knows" are all first-class (if sometimes mordant). Not everything is up to that level, but enough is to make a case for them ...
