Consistently written off as ABBA wannabes and subpar pop poseurs, Ace of Base actually wrote some of the best pop songs of the '90s. Though the vocals were never up to par with even the least accomplished singers and the production was often sparse, the hooks in most of their cuts are irresistible. From their stateside breakthrough hit "All That She Wants" and their biggest single, "The Sign," and through their Top Ten "Beautiful Life" and the remake of "Cruel Summer," this compilation covers the best of their material. But with the addition of the poetic "Everytime It Rains," the pretty "Lucky in Love," the '50s throwback "Always Have, Always Will," the acoustic "Life Is a Flower," and the young-at-heart "C'est la Vie Always 21," you can see that much of what didn't hit big in the U.S. was some of the band's best work. As often happens with pop acts, once they begin to grow as artists, their fan base shrivels, which is exactly what happened with Ace of Base.  So many good songs...
This album is a great overall collection of the numerous hits Ace of Base has put out through out the 90's. If you are a fan of the group, I would say that it is a MUST BUY. Seeing as how most of their songs have that techno and dance feel to them, the album ends up being like a 50 minute dance session with ALL songs that I have heard before. Sure you can say this about any greatest hits album but Ace of Base is just simply an awesome group and this album is a testament to that.

Greatest means Greatest
AOB is now planning on releasing a new album entitled "Greatest Hits". The CD is a must have for any fan or listener who wants to hear all their old favorites from this group. It includes singles from "The sign" "The bridge" and their 1999 album, "Cruel Summer". It also includes some new, never before heard in america bonus tracks, which sound quite nice. So go pick this one up, its a keeper.
