(4 Customer Reviews)
Standard Screen; Soundtrack English A 15 song video compilation from Canadian singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan, one of the most celebrated female performers of the past decade. With her ethereal voice and folk-pop fusion music, McLachlan has given a voice to the depths of her soul and inspired countless other singer-songwriters to do the same. VIDEO COLLECTION contains Canadian and U.S. versions of "Vox" and "Possession" as well as "Steaming," "Ben's Song," "The Path Of Thorns (Terms)," "Into the Fire," "Drawn To the Rhythm," "Hold On," "Good Enough," "I Will Remember You," "Building a Mystery," "Sweet Surrender," and "Adia." Great DVD In 1994, Sarah released a VHS version of her videos and now us lucky fans can have all of her videos on this lovely DVD compilation. It's really amazing to see the maturity of this talented musician from 1988's "Touch" to 1997's "Surfacing". Some of the videos are stinkers, such as "Steaming" and "The Path of Thorns (Terms)", but most of the videos are great. My favorites are "Drawn to the Rhythm", "Building a Mystery" and "Sweet Surrender". Submitted by a reviewer (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? | | Sarah McLachlan Rarities B-Sides & Other Stuff CD (1996) (Import) Canada
Sarah Mclachlan: Video Collection 1989-1998 review
$14.99 RARITIES, B-SIDES AND OTHER STUFF contains previously-released material.
This Canadian collection includes a wealth of Sara Mclachlan tidbits unavailable on her other releases. These include remixes, live versions and covers, such as Joni Mitchell's "Blue" and Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday."
In the time it took her to release her first three proper albums, Sarah McLachlan put out nearly as much music as B-sides, singles, or stray tracks for compilations and soundtracks, leaving no easy job for fans wanting her entire output. Rarities, B-Sides & Other Stuff collects 13 of these non-album tracks, including "I Will Remember You" from the Brothers McMullen soundtrack, "Dear God," the song she contributed to an XTC tribute album, a cover of Joni Mitchell's "Blue," and several remixes. While this by no means empties the vaults or even collects all the necessary B-sides (her spot-on version of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill," for instance, is not included), ...
| | Waterbone Tibet CD (1998)
Sarah Mclachlan: Video Collection 1989-1998 DVD
$13.29 This is an interesting mix of electronic dance music fused with various traditional song forms from Tibet (with a bit from Nepal and Thailand, as well). Waterbone is actually a pair of American artists, Kendall Jones and Jimmy Waldo, who simply composed bits and pieces of song motifs before traveling to the Himalayas to record the bulk of the album's material. A few of the pieces are pre-composed works for synthesizers, drum machines, and flutes, but the majority is a synthesis of synthesizer and drum loops with recordings of the native musicians. While the performers from the various schools, temples, and street corners are all enjoyable, the excitement here comes from the fusion between the old vocal and modern technological music forms. The vocalists range from young female singers of Bangkok to ancient monks of Katmandu. The seamless transitions from one to another and the delicate fusion with electronica make the album worth hearing. Mixing Asian vocals with electronica is hardly anything new (especially since the success of Enigma's "Return to Innocence"), with notable albums in the vein coming from any number of Asian dub groups, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and a lump of single singers enhancing their own abilities from throughout ...

Sarah Mclachlan: Video Collection 1989-1998 movie DVD
$8.49 This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser.
"Fallen" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
In the six years between Sarah McLachlan's 1997 outing, SURFACING, and 2003's AFTERGLOW, much happened to the Lilith Fair founder on both personal and global levels. McLachlan's daughter India was born months after the death of her mother, and, of course, there were the ripple effects of the 2001 terrorist attacks. All are addressed throughout these 10 songs, which are ensconced in the ethereal swaddling of subtle piano, acoustic guitars, and light strings.
At the heart of this Canadian chanteuse's often melancholy observations is a unwavering resiliency, whether she's finding her way through 9/11's aftereffects in "World on Fire" or seeking solace in the embrace of drummer and significant other Ashwin Sood on "Push." McLachlan also sings of unhealthy relationships, where she finds fault in both herself ("Stupid") and a fictional lover ("Perfect Girl"). Gently rendered, introspective, and heartfelt, AFTERGLOW reaffirms that Sarah McLachlan's mastery of both ...
