| | Patti Smith Easter CD Patti Smith Discography of CDs
"Rock and roll is the only cultural asset America has given the world," declared a young Patti Smith years before she made her own records. Then she made EASTER, which made that asset a little more valuable. EASTER is an essential cultural touchstone.
Whereas HORSES was built on poetry and RADIO ETHIOPIA scrapped accessibility for primal cacophony, EASTER was The Patti Smith Group's most approachable package of Smith's vision.
As an artist and songwriter, Smith constantly pushed the boundaries of rock's scope: The demented "Space Monkey" builds a visual landscape, "Because The Night" melds pop with literary intention, and "Ghost Dance" transcends all musical genres to become a mantra. Possibly the most powerful track on the album is Smith's epic "Babelogue/Rock N Roll Nigger" segue, where she incorporates Jimi Hendrix, Jesus Christ and Jackson Pollack into a paean to artistic individuality and its inevitable alienation.
Recorded at The Record Plant, New York, New York and The House Of Music, West Orange, New Jersey.

Easter album
$9.55 This 1997 reissue of ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? is a remastered version that restores the original LP's track order and album artwork. ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? was previously reissued in 1993 (MCA 10893) with new cover art and a new 17-track running order that included all the songs on either the U.S. or U.K. versions of the original LP. That version is now out of print, and has been replaced by this one, on the Experience Hendrix label, which features remastered versions of the same 17 songs, this time in the order they appeared on the original American LP, with the extra tracks added to the end (a separate version was simultaneously released in the U.K., featuring the same songs but in the original British track order). The Experience Hendrix label is controlled by Hendrix's family.
The 1997 reissue also adds a 24-page ...

Easter CD music
$7.59 With the exception of Bob Dylan, few rock n' rollers explored poetry within the rock format as thoroughly as Patti Smith. By the mid-70's, Smith had been a regular poetry-reader in New York City clubs for years, and with a deep admiration for The Rolling Stones, it was only natural to set these poems to music. With an exciting rock band to back her up (including renowned music critic Lenny Kaye on guitar), Smith built up a following on the strength of the band's trance-inducing live shows and her thrillingly liberated vocal style, which built on Dylan's mid '60s expressiveness with ecstatic, octave-jumping yelps.
Produced by ex-Velvet Underground bassist John Cale, HORSES was considered 'punk rock' when it was first released, but there was much more ...

| | Rough Guide To Latin Jazz CD (2003) (Import) United Kingdom
Easter songs
$15.59 Forged from the collision of musics and cultures both black and white, Latin music and jazz have enjoyed a long period of cross-fertilization, ranging from Latinized boppers like Dizzy Gillespie (with the aid of Mario Bauza and Chano Pozo) to the advent of serious Latin jazz fusion courtesy of the Concord Picante label's modern recordings of Latin maestros Tito Puente and Eddie Palmieri. The Rough Guide to Latin Jazz focuses overwhelmingly on the latter, skipping over 50 years of Latin and jazz history to deliver songs from a host of latter-day players including Poncho Sanchez, Manny Oquendo, and Snowboy as well as seminal names like Puente, Palmieri, and Mongo Santamaria. At that, the compilers are very successful. Choosing performances with a heavy jazz emphasis by Latin bands, the disc illustrates which jazz players have exerted an influence on the '80s and '90s players: Wayne Shorter for one, a constant experimenter in Latin idioms with two compositions here, and Chick Corea, another fusion-era innovator. On a version of Shorter's hard bop standard "Speak No Evil," Jimmy Bosch's trombone wails engagingly, indulging in some furious playing with David Sanchez on tenor, while Corea's "China" was reinvented by Puente in 1986 for one of the best performances of his career. "Maraca's Tumbao" from Havana Flute Summit boasts a trio of excellent flutists: Jane Bunnett and Orlando "Maraca" Valle, plus Cuban legend Richard Egues, ...
| | Jovanotti Lorenzo 1992 CD (1992)
Easter album
$22.25 Jovanotti's meteoric rise to fame in the late '80s was only comparable to his rapid descent into has-been territory and derision. Much to his credit, Jovanotti kept the faith and started an unlikely personal crusade to get rid of his brainless teenager rap sensation image, and rebuild himself as a mature songwriter. Against all odds, he succeeded where most novelty/fad acts fail. Lorenzo 1992 is usually identified as the album where the "new," "adult," or "much improved" Jovanotti emerged. In this respect, many point to the inclusion of his real name on the title (Jovanotti was born Lorenzo Cherubini) as a declaration of the artist's desire to claim a new, authentic identity -- and of course, discard the former one that at that point reeked of commercialism. In truth, this album is by no means the shocking revelation ...

Easter album
$16.49 'Saida' Watson began singing at a very early age. Gospel choirs, school ensembles, and local talent shows where she wowed audiences and gained favor and respect. She studied piano and voice with professors and private instructors in and around Central Florida where she grew up. Saida moved to New York City to further develop her craft. Little did she know that this would be the launching pad for a world of experience and opportunity. She began studying at Jazz Mobile with well known musicians such as Michelle Hendricks, John Hendricks daughter. She furthered her studies with The Great Al Hibbler, the late great Hilton Ruiz and the late Jimmy Garrett , music director for the Supremes, to name a few. Sai, as she is affectionately known, performed with The Conneticut Opera in the hit Broadway Musical, Porgy and Bess. She also performed with Tamborines to Glory, another musical play, where she was an understudy for the night club singer group The Gloryettas. Her New York experiences earned her the opportunity to audition for and be hired by an agency which booked tours in Japan. The group Three Sounds Plus One, Plus One being Saida, performed in Japan and several surrounding cities. The original tour was scheduled for two months however, with Saida's graceful and soothing vocals leading the way, the group was offered an extended contract to tour the area for one year, performing in front of ...
