| As the name implies...Super&Natural A very inspiring piece of work! The man lets his soul speak through his guitar.... unbelievable! It's as though his solos are improvised. By zlider (Malta, Med Sea.) |
| Surpisingly cohesive CD from Santana Normally, I'm wary when artists have so many guests on an album, but this CD is a pleasant surprise. This CD is home to some of Santana's best guitar playing in years. By a reviewer (Charlotte, NC) |
| Love It!!!!! This is one of the best albums he has ever made. Keep it up santana!! By Ivonne (Houston, Tx) |
| The Sales Figures Tell It All There's a good reason so many people have purchased "Supernatural". With a little something for everybody, the bottom line is that when you strip music down to the basics, this is all-out, straight-forward rock music played by one of the all-time greats, and the result is true perfection. Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication CD (1999)
Supernatural album for sale "Scar Tissue" won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. CALIFORNICATION was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. "Scar Tissue" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
"Californication" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and for Best Rock Song.
CALIFORNICATION finds The Red Hot Chili Peppers once again in the more straightforward punk-funk mode of BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK. This return to their original sound also marks the return of prodigal son John Frusciante, who takes over for his replacement, Dave Navarro. The Chili Peppers fill CALIFORNICATION with material shaped by personal and professional turmoil, resulting in a somewhat more sensitive approach than one might expected from a band whose hard-core following are skate-punks and drunken frat-boys. Songs such as "Otherside," "Scar Tissue" and "This Velvet Glove" overflow with background harmonies, while Frusciante's unadorned guitar provides support for Anthony Kiedis' emotive singing and broken-hearted lyrics.
The title track is one of the most impressive songs this quartet has written--It tells a tale of wandering souls who've lost their way searching for the American Dream in California. This sensitive showing does nothing to undermine the Chili Pepper's trademark aggressive musical style. If anything, their playing has gotten tighter--as evidenced by the chicken-scratch funk of "Get On Top" and the scat-sung approach of "I Like Dirt." The most impressive anomaly on CALIFORNICATION is "Savior," an ethereal track that finds Frusciante playing with a tone reminiscent of early Peter Green.

Sting Brand New Day CD (1999)
Supernatural songs BRAND NEW DAY won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Pop Album. "Brand New Day" won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Performance.
BRAND NEW DAY continues Sting's sophisticated approach toward pop music as he once again collaborates with ace musicians on material that knows no cultural or stylistic boundaries. Not surprisingly, the tantric guru chooses love as the theme for this eclectic collection of songs.
Sting's cross-cultural forays range from a collaboration with Algerian singing sensation Cheb Mami on the Ofra Haza-meets-William Orbit "Desert Rose" to the bossa nova-influenced "Big Lie Small World." There's a jazz patina throughout--guest trumpeter Chris Botti emulates Miles Davis on the coffee-house hip-bop of "Perfect Love...Gone Wrong" and long-time friend Branford Marsalis adds mournful clarinet to the sumptuous string arrangements of the noirish "Tomorrow We'll See," a song about a weary prostitute straight out of a Raymond Chandler novel. Although the upbeat yet moody title track cheerfully rings with Stevie Wonder's bubbly harmonica, Sting's restlessness on "Fill Her Up" truly stands out. The track starts out as a country song (a la "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying") in 9/8 time only to eventually reveal an ambient gospel chorus.
Principally recorded at Il Palagio, Italy and Mega Studios, Paris, France.
Recording information: 1999.

Steely Dan Two Against Nature CD (2000)
Supernatural buy CD music TWO AGAINST NATURE won the 2001 Grammy Award for Album Of The Year, won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album and "Cousin Dupree" won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
In the 20 years that elapsed between 1980's GAUCHO and its follow-up, Steely Dan linchpins Donald Fagen and Walter Becker dabbled in solo projects, toured with the Rock & Soul Revue, and spent most of the '90s gearing up for the band's long-awaited eighth studio album, TWO AGAINST NATURE. Only nine songs long, TWO AGAINST NATURE is a clear example of quality over quantity. As has been the modus operandi throughout Steely Dan's existence, Fagen and Becker gathered an impressive backup crew of jazz players with impeccable chops to season the proceedings.
With both Becker and Fagen hovering around age 50, it's not surprising that most of this rich material deals with the uncertainties of middle age. Themes addressed include the complexities of relationships, whether they involve family ("Cousin Dupree"), a toxic significant other ("Negative Girl"), or an old flame met by chance ("What a Shame About Me"). Throughout, Steely Dan manages to successfully straddle the lines between light jazz, bebop, and the fusion from which the duo has previously borrowed nuances.

Dave Matthews Band Listener Supported CDs (1999)
Supernatural album for sale LISTENER SUPPORTED represents a full-circle return for the Dave Matthews Band. The Virginia natives turned college radio on its ear when they independently releasing a live album as their debut, helping make their newest live offering all the more apropos. Few bands are as comfortable performing live as the Dave Matthews Band. There's an organic electricity in the air that makes it seem as though anything is possible. Their fusion-meets-acoustic-rock-meets-folk-sound has been so successful due in part to their fiercely loyal fan base, a fact pointed to by this collection's title.
The secret weapon of the Dave Matthew's Band is its rhythm section, possibly the most underrated in the group's genre. Drummer Carter Beauford pours fire into the arrangements, taking the music to new heights, while musical prodigy Stefan Lessard's tight, melodic bass lines create the perfect symmetry. One listen to the outro of "Rapunzel" will surely silence the skeptics. Dave Matthews' vocals on "Crash Into Me" are as raw and honest as it gets. What makes this band so unique is that its live albums are as eagerly anticipated as its studio releases, neither of which receives significant promotion or marketing.
Recorded at Continental Airlines Arena, East Rutherford, New Jersey on September 11, 1999.
Recording information: Continental Airlines Arena, Eas (09/11/1999).
Dave Matthews Band: Dave Matthews, Boyd Tinsley, Stefan Lessard, Leroi Moore, Carter Beauford.
Additional personnel: Butch Taylor (keyboards); Tawatha Agee, Chinah Bess, Brenda White-King (background vocals).
