In 1978 Angela Bofill became the second artist signed to the GRP label. She was hailed as a jazz prodigy and had consistent success on the R&B charts. While Bofill never achieved major pop-crossover success, her late-'90s releases have an instantly likable smooth-jazz appeal.
This excellent collection presents the best of her material. The singer's beautiful soprano works best on jazzy ballads, but also soars on the dance numbers. One such track is "Something About You," an upbeat workout produced by Narada Michael Walden, the famed R&B and dance maestro. "Baby, I Need Your Love," from Angela's debut, is a mid-tempo, Caribbean-flavored tune with a wonderful flute solo. "Under the Moon and Over the Sky" is a reserved, jazzy number showing the range and beauty of her voice. "I'm on Your Side" is a soulful ballad with excellent arrangements. Angela successfully duets with Boz Scaggs on a groovin' version of "Ain't Nothin' Like the Real Thing." Too Tough" is a supercharged, post-disco jam. "I Try" shows how a ballad should be sung: strong and heartfelt, but never overdone.
Includes liner notes by Brian Chin.

Definitive Collection Music Angela Bofill Definitive Collection Songs Definitive Collection Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) It is great to hear a talented singer I purchased this CD for my 14 year old daughter. She fell in love with Ms. Bofill's music last year. She was very excited to recieve her own copy of the Definitive Collection. This is the kind of music you do not have to worry about your child listening to. This CD is about love, happiness and expressing these feelings. I enjoyed it when I was young and I know she will to. THIS TIME I WAS SWEETER The cd was mastered very well. On Under the Moon and over the Sky, the presence of being aloft in a remote nightly jungle setting, as the sound effects, and mixing came rushing out of speakers and filled the foom with three dimensional airy sound stage. I have been a long time fan and as many of us, have made the transition from Lp to Cd, to remasterd CD. And i can tell you from listing to this music for more that 15 years, you get to know it quite well. This CD gets four stars for my review. I only with many original albums are released, not just compulations. I really did enjoy this CD as the first released cd i was in a way dissapointed, with the sound quality. But this time I was sweeter with the finished results. (20-24) bit thank you. Submitted by a reviewer (Concord, Delaware) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
It's a great album!!!! What can i say, it's a great album really!!! I've
waited long enough for this album to come out and it's finally here! I just know once this album hits the Philippines, it'll be a topseller. However, I was disappointed that "You should know by now, " "Summer Days(from her first album)," are not included. But nevertheless, I know this album will go far.
