| | Sonic Images Prime Time Soundtrack CD
The various artists release Sonic Images Prime Time features original music from some of America's biggest prime time television shows. Composers such as Christopher Franke, James Newton Howard, Mark Isham, and Basil Poledouris capture the essence of drama, sci-fi, action, comedy, and suspense through the art of new age music. The listen is particularly choppy, yet the obscure set list makes for an eccentric and oddly enjoyable listen. Quality tracks on Sonic Images Prime Time include the theme songs to the Raven, Lois & Clark, Chicago Hope, and the '80s TV thriller Poltergeist. ~ MacKenzie Wilson

Sonic Images Prime Time Soundtrack
$9.99 The chiming, acoustic sound of "Hard Sun," the lead-off single from this collection of solo Eddie Vedder material, might lead fans to wonder where the roaring guitars and grunge-drenched energy of Pearl Jam has gone. Yet the large-scale, anthemic quality of the song, its forceful, three-chord progression, and Vedder's familiar gruff and soaring vocals reveal that the singer hasn't strayed far from home turf. INTO THE WILD, a soundtrack to the Sean Penn film of the same name, features 11 original tunes from Vedder that largely fit the mold of "Hard Sun." The songs are acoustic, wistful, earnest and open-hearted, yet boast arrangements and a production style that favors a grand sonic sweep over intimacy, the sound of unique personal dreams writ large (a perfect fit with the film's story, which concerns a young man's hitch-hiking odyssey). Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker and blues harmonica veteran Charlie Musselwhite join Vedder in creating the cinematic atmosphere, but its Vedder's voice ...

Sonic Images Prime Time Soundtrack
$10.09 The 1952 NBC series Victory at Sea was one of the earliest network documentary series to capture the public's imagination in a serious way, and one of the more enduring offshoots was the music by Richard Rodgers, which was recorded by RCA-Victor in what ultimately became a series of four LPs. Rodgers was chosen by series producer Henry Salamon based on his being the "leading American composer of his day," a somewhat exalted (though understandable) judgement for a man who was ...

Sonic Images Prime Time Soundtrack
$7.05 Giorgio Moroder did a lot of soundtrack work during the early '80s, and one of his most well-known soundtracks is that of Scarface, the iconic Al Pacino film from 1983. Of all the films Moroder scored, from American Gigolo (1980) and Flashdance (1983) to Electric Dreams (1984) and The Never Ending Story (1984), Scarface is undoubtedly the one that withstood the test of time most impressively, growing in popularity as the years passed (culminating in a well-received DVD reissue in 2003 that probably did more business than the film itself did its first go round). The same cannot be said about the film's soundtrack, ...

$10.95 Pillar: Rob Beckley (vocals); Noah Henson (guitar); Kalel (bass guitar); Lester Estelle (drums). Additional personnel: Mike Dearing (percussion); Keith Wallen (background vocals). Pillar returns after the success of 2002's Fireproof with Where Do We Go from Here, a further streamlining of the combo's cross of alternative CCM and secular post-grunge chunkery. Elements of rap-rock still exist, particularly in the intonation of vocalist Rob Beckley, but cuts like "Hypnotized," "Bring Me Down," and "Let ...
