(4 Customer Reviews)
Digitally remastered by Dick Baxter (September 1992, BMG Recording Studios, New York).
With the departure of Craig Fuller, the face (and sound) of Pure Prairie League changed considerably. Larry Goshorn (ex-Sacred Mushroom) has replaced Fuller as the main songwriter in the band. And, while the overall album isn't up to its predecessors, there are still some nice moments including the title track, "Runner," and a humorous tribute to country music legend Merle Haggard. ~ Jim Worbois

Pure Prairie League Two Lane Highway Songs Two Lane Highway Music Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Country Just recieved this. Had not heard this in 20 something years. Excellent Country Rock ! Another PPL Gem ! PPL hit it big with this one as the band showed there was life without Craig Fuller.
Two Lane Highway, Pickin' To Beat The Devil, Kansas City Southern, Flat Tire Merle are terrific tunes, and pedal steel doesn't come any better than John David Call. George Powell and Larry Goshorn prove themselves to be top flight songwriters here, and the vocals are superb ! Not a bad track on this one, and PPL still plays many tunes from it in concert today, no surprise there ! A great country rocker, one of the most highly acclaimed LP's of the genre in the 70's.A must in any country rock fan's collection. Submitted by Diane (Long Island, NY) Was This Review Helpful?
