Live at Luther College album for sale Product Description
Live at Luther College album for sale by Dave Matthews / Tim Reynolds was released Jan 19, 1999 on the RCA label. Matthews built his career on a grassroots level by wowing audiences with his high energy performances, so this live album seems like a natural step. What's surprising is that a bandleader who's made his reputation largely on the strength of his band (and of course, his considerable songwriting skills) should hit the road without them. The revelation here is that even when the violin, bass, drums, etc. Live at Luther College CD music is a 2-disc set with 23 songs. ...See Full Description

Dave Matthews Band Before These Crowded Streets CD (1998)
Live at Luther College buy CD music BEFORE THESE CROWDED STREETS was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. "Crush" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
BEFORE THESE CROWDED STREETS is a true groove salad, as the D.M.B. reports in with even more creative eclecticism than usual. Guest appearances by artists as varied as Alanis Morissette, Bela Fleck and Kronos Quartet are a testament to the collage of sounds present. Occasional ventures into Middle Eastern melodicism feel as natural a part of the band's sound as do its mellow folk grooves and funky rhythm flights. The lyrics are a glad swirl of pop storytelling and trippy mystery, brought to life by the usual confluence of saxophones, violin and precise guitar work that makes this group tick.
Over a fat backbeat, Matthews carries the clever, sultry lyrics of "Rapunzel" with a whimsical vocal blend of growls and falsetto jumps, culminating in a soprano rhapsody by hornman Leroi Moore. The funk-vamp "Stay" makes you want to do just that, featuring a joyous gospel chorus and peppery, staccato horn lines. Excellent, frenetic bowing by Kronos Quartet couples with Matthews' quick picking to drive "The Stone" to a 6/8 fury, only to be resolved with delicate grace. Morisette's lilt and Fleck's colorful banjo wrap this excellent album up tastefully on "Spoon."
Recorded at the Record Plant, Sausalito, California and Electric Lady Studios, New York, New York.

Dave Matthews Band Crash CD (1996)
Live at Luther College CD music "So Much To Say" won a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. CRASH was nominated for a 1997 Grammy for Best Rock Album, and "Too Much" was nominated for Best Rock Song. "Crash Into Me" was nominated for 1998 Grammys for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal and Best Rock Song.
What is it about The Dave Matthews Band that makes them so eclectic yet cohesive, so conventionally unconventional? The answer may lie in Matthews' rangy, distinctive voice and his capable acoustic-guitar work, which keeps the music centered as the band pulls from a myriad of musical styles. In fact, the music often seems to mimic his singing, following him from gruff and gravelly to pleading and sweet.
The players, clearly comfortable with each other, shift effortlessly through funk, rock, jazz and folk, much as on their 1994 breakthrough, UNDER THE TABLE AND DREAMING. Like that one, CRASH is rich and heavy with complex textures and rhythm, and accessible all the same.
CRASH makes good on the promise of the Dave Matthews Band's major-label debut, UNDER THE TABLE & DREAMING, by delivering more of the jazzy, funky folk-tinged rock that made that album a popular breakthrough. On CRASH, the spotlight is again on Matthews's literate, adventurous songwriting, which bears the influences of Afrobeat ("Say Goodbye"), Tropicalia ("Let You Down"), and music from the Balkans ("Two Step"). Matthews blends these diverse styles on a singer/songwriter palette with loose, appealing melodies and intricate, rhythmic guitar lines, making the songs on CRASH even better than those on its predecessor.
Much of the charm of Matthews's music comes from his band, with their unique (for modern rock) instrumentation (including violin and saxophone), meticulous arrangements, and notably superior musicianship. Another of the group's stylistic angles is 1970s funk, and the ensemble channels this influence overtly on the punchy, horn-driven "Too Much," and implicitly elsewhere (even the acoustic numbers seem to pop and snap intensely). With Matthews's associative lyrics and distinctive, sliding tenor over the top, all this adds up to an original and undeniably winning record.
Recorded at Bearsville Studios, Bearsville, New York and Green Street Recording Studios, New York, New York.
Personnel: Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar); Tim Reynolds (acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Boyd Tinsley (violin, electric violin); LeRoi Moore (flute, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone); Stefan Lessard (piano); Carter Beauford (drums, percussion, background vocals).

Dave Matthews Band Listener Supported CDs (1999)
Live at Luther College songs LISTENER SUPPORTED represents a full-circle return for the Dave Matthews Band. The Virginia natives turned college radio on its ear when they independently releasing a live album as their debut, helping make their newest live offering all the more apropos. Few bands are as comfortable performing live as the Dave Matthews Band. There's an organic electricity in the air that makes it seem as though anything is possible. Their fusion-meets-acoustic-rock-meets-folk-sound has been so successful due in part to their fiercely loyal fan base, a fact pointed to by this collection's title.
The secret weapon of the Dave Matthew's Band is its rhythm section, possibly the most underrated in the group's genre. Drummer Carter Beauford pours fire into the arrangements, taking the music to new heights, while musical prodigy Stefan Lessard's tight, melodic bass lines create the perfect symmetry. One listen to the outro of "Rapunzel" will surely silence the skeptics. Dave Matthews' vocals on "Crash Into Me" are as raw and honest as it gets. What makes this band so unique is that its live albums are as eagerly anticipated as its studio releases, neither of which receives significant promotion or marketing.
Recorded at Continental Airlines Arena, East Rutherford, New Jersey on September 11, 1999.
Recording information: Continental Airlines Arena, Eas (09/11/1999).
Dave Matthews Band: Dave Matthews, Boyd Tinsley, Stefan Lessard, Leroi Moore, Carter Beauford.

Dave Matthews Band Under the Table and Dreaming CD (1994) Top Seller
Live at Luther College album for sale "What Would You Say" was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
So far, the year 1994 has been a splendid one for grass roots rock bands outside the New York/L.A./Nashville loop. Emerging from the pack with a unique sound of their own have been regional sensations such as Counting Crows, Collective Soul, Hootie & The Blowfish and now, the Dave Matthews Band.
Centered around the talents of their lead singer-guitarist, and featuring some of the top talents on the Charlottesville, Virginia scene, UNDER THE TABLE AND DREAMING is an exquisite polyglot of voices and moods. As their closing instrumental "#34" demonstrates, the Dave Matthews Band not only possess a sublime pop sensibility, they're able to move seamlessly from rock through jazz, blues, funk and a variety of pastoral folk sources--all the while maintaining a distinctive lyric perspective.
With a slamming, sensitive rhythm section, and powerful solo flights by violinist Boyd Tinsley and saxophonist Leroi Moore, the Dave Matthews Band keeps several pots boiling all the time. Their vigorous group interplay compliments the leader's driving acoustic guitar, grainy, soulful vocals and gentle ambiguities on "Typical Situation," and his harrowing tale of addiction, "Rhyme & Reason." Matthews' sly humor emerges on the sardonic "Dancing Nancies," where he agonizes over every variety of woulda, coulda and shoulda on top of a dancing flamenco groove, and the funky "What Would You Say," where his character urges us to live our lives, not lament them. UNDER THE TABLE AND DREAMING is positive, upbeat, exploratory pop.
Recorded at Bearsville Studios, Bearsville, New York.
Dave Matthews Band: David Matthews (vocals, acoustic guitar); Boyd Tinsley (vocals, violin); Leroi Moore (vocals, flute, soprano, alto, & tenor saxophones); Carter Beauford (vocals, drums, percussion); Stefan Lessard (bass).
Additional personnel: John Alagia, Andrew Page, Jeff Thomas, Michael McDonald (vocals); Tim Reynolds (acoustic guitar); John Popper (harmonica); Steve Forman (percussion).

Dave Matthews Band Live At Red Rocks 8/15/95 CDs (1997)
Live at Luther College CD music Known for their grassroots attitude and tight, engaging live shows, The Dave Matthews Band has always encouraged fans to record its performances, and was one of rock's most often bootlegged bands. In fact, a direct patch to the soundboard was made available to would-be recordists until 1995, when some of these tapes found their way into less scrupulous, commercial-minded hands who, in the band's eyes, overcharged fans. In response to the bootleg dilemma, LIVE AT RED ROCKS 8.15.97 captures the band in the legendary Colorado venue, performing two discs worth of mesmerizing, intense music.
Opening with the ominous strains of "Seek Up," the DMB proceeds to flow through seamless renditions of their instant classics. The rhythmic play and violin-saxophone harmonies of "Satellite" give way to the frenzied plucking of "Two Step." A lively "Tripping Billies" kicks off side two, while "#36" shows off drummer Carter Beauford's chops. Closing with live staple "All Along The Watchtower," the striking thing about LIVE AT RED ROCKS is its adherence to form: eschewing extended jams for intense, airtight performances, satisfying bootleg-hungry fans who want the energy of the band's live set and the quality of a legitimate, band-approved release.
Recorded live at Red Rocks, Colorado on August 15, 1995.
Personnel: Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar).

Unknown Contributor Roles: Dave Matthews; LeRoi Moore; Stefan Lessard; Tim Reynolds; Boyd Tinsley; Carter Beauford.

Dave Matthews Band Recently CD (1994)
Live at Luther College buy CD music Principally recorded live at The Birchmere, Arlington, Virginia, February 21, 1994 and Trax, Charlottesville, Virginia, February 22, 1994.
Presumably intended to sate the appetites of DMB fans between albums, this five-song EP is a short but interesting addition to the band's canon. The most telling cuts are two live acoustic songs from 1994, which show the power and solidity of Matthews' songwriting. Also included is a full-band workout on the title tune, an alternate mix of the original REMEMBER TWO THINGS version. As always, the band is beyond tight, verging on telepathic, and Matthews' distinctive, hiccuping vocal style is at the fore.
