Recorded between 1942 & 1952. Includes liner notes by Joseph F. Laredo. Digitally remastered by Bill Lacey. Personnel: Boys in the Backroom, Giggie Royse, Paul Judson, Sara Berner, Freddie Morgan, Del Porter, Red Ingle, Carl Grayson (vocals); Mel Blanc (sound effects). Liner Note Author: Joseph F. Laredo. Arrangers: Doodles Weaver; Spike Jones. There have been many compilations of Spike Jones' music, but few have been better than RCA's 1999 collection, Greatest Hits. Over the course of 20 tracks, all of Jones' best-known songs are presented in their best-known versions, including "Leave the Dishes in the Sink, Ma," "My Old Flame," "Der Fuehrer's Face," "The Sheik of Araby, "William Tell Overture," and "All I Want for Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth)." For the curious and dedicated alike, this is very useful indeed, since never before have so many of Jones' classics been presented on one disc, complete with strong liner notes and good fidelity. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Greatest Hits!!! Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) All-Time Great Musical Parodies Spike Jones murders pop tunes and classical music in a way you'll never forget. After laughing hysterically at the gun shots, car horns, cowbells and crazy vocal effects, you realize how perfectly coordinated all this madness is. These guys were superb musicians. Even with today's digital effects and recording techniques, I doubt if any group could match Spike's accomplishments. Submitted by rbruce (New Rochelle, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Classic Spike! Ah yes, that famous crazy bandleader at his best! The remastering on this cd is far better than the previous Spike reissues! the Hawaiian War Chant issued here is different from the previous one issued on the RCA cd, The Best of Spike Jones, but no matter. It's just as funny and has better sound! Reccomended for those zany moments of your life!!! Submitted by a reviewer (Manteca, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Taking Back Sunday Where You Want To Be CD (2004) Enhanced CD
Greatest Hits!!!
$10.09 This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Taking Back Sunday: Fred Mascherino (vocals, guitar); Adam Lazzara (vocals); Eddie Reyes (guitar); Matthew Rubana (bass guitar); Mark O'Connell (drums). Where You Want to Be builds on the hardcore-power-meets-pop-skills of Taking Back Sunday's debut, Tell All Your Friends, and reveals the group to be, in many ways, a quintessential latter-day emo band. Not because they're redefining the style's sound, but because their music is defined by so many of emo's nearly cliché tendencies. A gerund-led band name? Check. Cryptically bittersweet titles like "Little Devotional"? Present and accounted for. Shouty, anthemic vocals, string-driven ballads like "New American Classic," and wordy, confessional lyrics ("Give me a chance? Whatever...you're so hit or miss, and that's so '93") are all in place as well. However, while Where You Want to Be might be more than a little (stereo)typical, it's not embarrassing; songs like "A Decade ...
