| | Best Of George Benson CD (1995)
All American Country CD music
$8.65 If a George Benson fan owned THE BEST OF GEORGE BENSON as well as THE GEORGE BENSON COLLECTION, he almost wouldn't have to own another George Benson CD. While there is some duplication of titles between the two Warner Brothers releases, this later release does as excellent a job of highlighting Benson's later career, as COLLECTION does for his earlier career.
"I Just Wanna Hang Around You," "Love X Love," "20/20," "Kisses in the Moonlight," and "Lady Love Me (One More Time)" are among the newer song highlights on this 1995 CD.

| | Henry Rollins End Of Silence CD (1992)
All American Country music CDs
$13.19 There was quite a buzz circulating around the Rollins Band after their show-stopping performances on the inaugural Lollapooza tour of '91 (they had the dubious task of warming up the crowd in the sweltering afternoon heat). After several independently issued albums, the Rollins Band issued their first domestic effort, THE END OF SILENCE, in 1992. The band benefited from opening tour slots with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys, as well as from alternative rock's crossover to the mainstream. THE END OF SILENCE is one of the Rollins Band's strongest releases. "Low Self Opinion" was an MTV favorite, while other tracks such as "Grip," "Tearing," "You Didn't Need," and "Obscene" caught the band at their most fiercely rocking.
In early 1991, months before recording their breakthrough album, END OF SILENCE, the Rollins Band set up in a small studio and charged through new material with a ferocious intensity. Every song was recorded in one take, and the vocals were done on the spot. After sitting untouched ...
| | Rufus Wainwright CD (1998)
All American Country songs
$9.65 In 1998, the music industry was inundated with recordings by the offspring of '60s and '70s icons. Chris Stills, Sean Lennon, Emma Townshend; nepotism ran unchecked, with varying degrees of aesthetic and commercial success. Rufus Wainwright, scion of acerbic singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright and Canadian songstress Kate McGarrigle, may share a nasal vocal drawl with his father, but the songs here are closer to Brian Wilson, Randy Newman or Harry Nilsson than Loudon or Kate. The Newman/Wilson connection is underlined by the skewed, neo-Baroque string arrangements ...

$15.55 Recorded between 1970 & 1976. Includes liner notes by Barry Alfonso.
In the mid-'70s, David Gates and his group Bread were the rulers of the soft-rock roost, and deservedly so. As this concise compilation shows, Gates ...
| | Gordon Bok Rogue's Gallery Of Songs For 12-String CD (1983)
All American Country music CDs
$14.35 To call Gordon Bok the voice of the Maine coast would be kind of trite, and it would probably embarrass him. But as someone who has actually lived the seafaring life he sings about in songs like "Old Fat Boat" and "Woodworker's Litany," he delivers such material with an unusual authority, and the tunes he writes evoke with sometimes startling clarity the stark beauty and forbidding ruggedness of that region. It would be inaccurate, however, to pigeonhole him as a regional singer-although his accent is always frankly down-east, the songs he sings in that accent are as likely to come from Ireland and Australia as they are to come from Maine or Nova Scotia. On this album (made at the behest of Folk Legacy head Sandy Paton, who requested ...

All American Country music CDs
$15.15 Recorded live at the Ars Electronica Klangpark, Linz, Austria in 2001.
An official live recording released in commemoration of Vladislav Delay's headlining performance at the 2001 Ars Electronica festival (September 1-6), Naima is more fascinating for the moment it captures than the actual musical performance itself. Recorded less than a year after Mille Plateaux had released Delay's sprawling Anima album, this performance purportedly harks ...
